Trump supporters

The callers calling in to say they support Trump are (excuse my language) f***ing idiots. #sorrynotsorry
The first caller Ashley is especially incredibly misinformed on what his platform or policy is.....
Also not sure if she realized but she pretty much said she agrees with racists because "we just need to say how we feel."

You are the most powerful country in the world, and share a border with us. What happens in your country very much impacts us. This election could quite possibly impact our country and the rest of the world like none before it.

Re: Trump supporters

I can't stand when Trump supports say he tells it like it is...David Duke told it like it was too. and he's was/is(?) the grand wizard. So no, i don't need someone to tell it like it is.  What i would like is some answers to how he is going to all these grand things, like "Make Apple come back to the US", please tell me how? o wait, you can't because it's impossible.  "Make Mexico build a wall"? I hate how he also just lies and retweets things and then just lies some more.  Basically he says something so much he eventually believes it and that is horrifying.  And he threatens violence and says he doesn't, and says he will pay legal fees then say he didn't say that. excuse me its all of video and not just pieces together clips.

I don't support Rubio's policy at all, but i would of voted for him because he seemed like he was willing to work with the Democrats, he had that grang of 8 bill that was bi-partisan and whomever is the next presidents needs to work on both sides.  I think Hillary is just hated and she couldn't get people to work with her.  They'll still be talking about her emails.

I'm from Louisiana and saw a tweet that was very indicative of this race....In the I've had a choice to vote for a crook (Edward) or a racist (David Duke).  I'll never vote for a racist again.

ps. i haven't had coffee yet.

Re: Trump supporters

There are two things I can't stand about Trump supporters. Just like you all said, when they claim he tells it like it is. Um no, he lies. Here's a good article about that: http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/donald-trump-lies-gaslighting_us_56e95d21e4b065e2e3d7ee82

The other is when they say that no one else will be able to balance the budget. His companies have filed for bankruptcy four time.

I also hate when republicans get all the blame for Trump. The people voting for him are not necessarily people who have voted before. They are angry Republicans, angry Democrats, and angry Independents. The common theme is that they are against establishment politics. Surprisingly there's even a good portion of Trump supporters who would vote for Sanders if Trump wasn't in the race. They both represent the anti-politics to the people even though they are vastly different candidates.

The thing is, we really need a moderate in the White House in order to get anything done. Sanders is a good guy, no doubt about that. But his policies will never get past Congress.

My candidate is Kasich. No one's perfect in this race, but he comes the closest to aligning to my views.

No offense but you're part of the problem. Did you attend public school? If so did you or your parents pay for your K-12 education?  Are you aware that college tuition at public universities used to be free or at least affordable?
Is it absurd to believe that everyone in arguably the richest country in the world should have access to free medical care?
What about requiring companies to pay an affordable living wage? Is that crazy too? No one should be killing themselves working full time and more to still be in poverty......

Have you by chance researched the candidates or are you just using talking points spoon fed to you by Fox News and CNN?

When over 170 TOP economists, people who live numbers, endorse a candidate and his plan over any other candidates because it is the best one for the struggling middle class I am going to pay closer attention to that candidate in question.....because people clearly smarter than you or I have found this person has offered solutions to many of our countries problems.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a conversation rather than attack me for my views? I won't respond to your post due to the connotation that I do not think for myself, therefore I am "the problem." I will say, it's pretty clear that Trump is not the solution.

True- but where is the line? Who decides what people "deserve"? I'm far from poor, but I'm also far from rich. I didn't have the same opportunities as say the Trump or Hilton children, and compared to them I'm a pauper. Does that mean the government should send me a check every month so I can have a closet full of Louboutins too, just because I think it's unfair I wasn't born to millionaire parents?

I'm fine with providing people the bare essentials- food/water, a safe home, and healthcare, but that's where it stops. I am NOT fine with things like taxpayer subsidized cell phones and other non-essentials. If people are too comfortable on taxpayer support, they have no incentive to work towards a better life. I work hard because I want to make a good life for myself and I'll be damned if the government is going to take that away from me.

For me, the bottom line is personal responsibility. Life isn't fair- you can choose to feel sorry for yourself, or you can choose take ownership of your life and make the best of it. Bad things, including things beyond our control, happen to everyone. How you respond is up to you.

* Side note, my use of the word "taxpayer" was intentional. The government pays for nothing- it's the taxpayers, you and I, that fund the programs.

This is so true. Those social programs mentioned aren't free. They are paid for through our taxes. The more "free" programs there are, the higher taxes we will have to pay. I'm not trying to stir the pot either way. I just think the word free is kind of misleading.

Re: Trump supporters

My answer to the question is, we're not "unwilling to work" and we're not getting these things for free. We are paying taxes for things that benefit society as a whole. Bernie is merely suggesting that all the huge corporations and billionaires that have been paying little to no taxes under the current tax code (the past 30 years or so) to finally pay their share as well. Also, adding taxes on Wall St speculations (the people that wrecked our economy and we bailed out?) would also go to pay for these programs. The average working family would see a 2.2% payroll tax increase, but you also wouldn't have the normal healthcare premiums that you have now. A single-payer system undoubtedly would be more efficient than the for-profit system we have now. Pharmaceutical and medical equipment costs could be negotiated, everyone would save. I'm not saying it is a perfect system, no system is, but definitely better than what we have. My last thought is, if this shit show of an election has shown us anything, it's that we need desperately to invest in education. I believe it is immoral that we profit off of student debt in this country. We have an obligation to the next generation to do something about it...btw I don't have kids, so I don't necessarily have a dog in this particular fight, but that I don't want to live in a world of dumbasses ya know?

So we all have to pay taxes, why not have them go towards things that make our lives better? Education, healthcare, infrastructure - instead of endless war, corporate greed, and political corruption.

Certain government programs - the military, 911, police/fire and public works - are necessary and unavoidable. The 16th amendment provides for taxation for the general defense and welfare of the country. Anything beyond that, and that does not benefit all citizens, is unacceptable to me.

Regarding public schools- even though some people do not have children or send their children to private schools, society as a whole benefits from having generally educated citizens.

Regarding social security - I am completely against this. It should be optional at best. If you are too irresponsible to ensure you will have sufficient resources when you retire, that's on you (back to that personal responsibility thing again). The government has completely failed in their fiduciary duty to social security and it is an absolute fact that you would be better off investing that money on your own.

To those who beleive a large part of the problem is unequal opportunity and prohibitively expensive higher education- if college were made 100% free, would you agree to drastically cut government entitlements since the financial  barrier to success has been removed?

Drastically, definitely not at first. I would absolutely be fine with tweaking the requirements, and gradually reducing over time. Also, all colleges would not be 100% free under Bernies plan, public college tuition would be covered.
We would need to couple this with an increase in infrastructure spending, which would put millions of people to work and benefit everyone. As more of the population is working and earning money, those people would no longer need assistance (or substantially less) they are paying more income taxes, and they have more money to spend. We cannot sustain the growth we've already had, let alone increase economic growth, if the majority of the population has no money to spend. You cannot have growth without consumers.
Lastly, if you are truly concerned with change, it's imperative to make an educated vote at the state level. Almost the whole Congress will soon be up for reelection, and that is where the real change needs to come. These people have done literally nothing for 6+ years. No President can do all of this alone, they need a Congress that is dedicated to working for the American people instead of being beholden to special interest groups and PAC money. Hence, why Citizens United needs to be overturned, etc, etc, etc... You all get it 😉
