Mardi Gras

Hi, ladies.
I am in the process of planning my bachelorette party -- yes, I'm planning my own because I don't know if I want a wedding party. How many days should we go? I'm planning for us to arrive on a Monday, and then staying until Wednesday. Check out is 4pm so I thought that two nights would be plenty in such a crazy atmosphere, but now I'm second guessing. Will I want that extra day and check out on Thursday instead? I'm itching to book a place soon, because I'm scared of there not being availability, but I cannot make up my mind. Thoughts?

Re: Mardi Gras

Many places will require a 3-night minimum for Mardi Gras. If you can swing it (hotels get pricey that time of year) go for 3 nights. I think come in on Sunday, leave Wednesday.  Tuesday is the most traditional and very beautiful, but least crazy day of the whole weekend. Saturday (Samdi Gras) - Monday (Lundi Gras) is where it's at!!

Thank you! I'll check out flights/hotels for Sunday-Wednesday.
Yes, super pricy, which is why I chose to be there during the week, rather than weekend. And since we were going to be there during the week, I figured Fat Tuesday would be cool.
I just feel so guilty for asking my friends to pay for a flight and place to stay so I wanted to make it as affordable as I could.

Re: Mardi Gras

Try to come in Sunday morning, it is my favorite day to catch the parades on St. Charles! Unless you wanted to do like a swamp tour or something not mardi gras related i wouldn't stay until Thursday.

How many girls do you have coming?

Re: Mardi Gras

I'm not sure yet. I'm thinking 14 but a few of my friends will have new babies at that time so they're playing it by ear.
I found a house through VRBO and so I think I might book today.
It sounds like Sunday is a must!

Re: Mardi Gras

Bah! I just booked.
It's in the French Quarter, two blocks from Bourbon st.
I didn't know about the parade route! Great. Well, I sure hope so!
