In the first few minutes of today's show (May 9), Taylor said that she made a deal with her parents to not say "fuck" anymore, and in exchange they'll help out in a certain aspect of her life.
For a 33 year old to be bribed with money from her parents is just absolutely insane to me. My guess it's probably to pay her cable bill so she can keep watching Bravo.
What do you think they're paying for?

Her soho house office space.
Her cool sculpting.
Cable.

I'm Mommy & Daddy are so upset with you're swearing they are offering to pay you to stop, I can't imagine it would be ok to discuss a possible lesbian relationship on air.

Oh, I believe it. Babette hates that she swears and Tay has mentioned before that Babette has asked her to stop.. But seriously, time to cut those apron strings. I found it ironic that later in the show she talked about being independent from her parents since her mid 20s.

I heard this, this morning, but I didn't interpret it as them helping her financially. I might not have been listening closely, though because I can't remember what she said.

I just listened to that part and she said, "they conceded to certain things in my life" as their part. I didn't take it as money either.

I almost spit my coffee out when she said she's been financially independent since her mid 20's. Your parents paid your rent until you moved in with Brett then he took care of you financially and now you are living off your divorce settlement. Please. From someone who is actually financially independent (I worked all through college and are still paying off student loans) it seriously pisses me off when she thinks she was financially independent, she could always fall back on her parents for help, other are not as fortunate.

i thought the same thing too! it didn't seem money related, maybe a habit that she has, like smoking or something?

I agree. I don't think forgoing the use of the f-word was a financial deal. Thinking more like the smoking thing... Or the TD relationship thing.
Interestingly, has anyone ever seen Babette comment something on a pic of Tay & TD together? Me either. Hmmmm.

Can you imagine "Stop swearing and you can date a girl!"
Jokes aside, I think Tay is single still. She's sounding more and more jaded/unhappy lately, nothing like someone in a fun new relationship.

As terrible as it would be for parents to bribe their 33 year old daughter with money to get her to stop swearing, it would be way way WAY worse for parents to accept a lifestyle choice (smoking, being in a lesbian relationship, whatever) in exchange for breaking a bad habit. That's fundamentally wrong on a human level.

Sounded like financial motivation to me.

Obviously if it had anything to do with accepting her relationship, with anyone, that would make you a horrible parent. But if Taylor is saying she uses cuss words as a de-stressor, similar to smoking, I think it would be okay to make that compromise. however i would rather my child cuss than smoke, because that shit kills.

Maybe the honeymoon stage of her relationship with TD has worn off...

I am glad someone brought this up. I didn't have time to post something yesterday.
I still think it is money. She is financially motivated (using the term loosely) and it sounds like easy money. I couldn't imagine the rents using the f-bomb as collateral for acceptance of any relationship or smoking. I have friends who have struggled coming out around their parents and I cannot imagine any person who is close minded to say ok if you don't ever say _____ I will accept your lifestyle that completely goes against my moral beliefs.

She is talking about freezing her eggs. How the heck is she going to afford that? "Don't say the F-bomb and we will pay for your egg retrieval." Maybe???? Now that makes since to me.

As soon as she brought that up, I was like Yep...that's gotta be it!

I think the deal is mom and dad will pay for Taylor to freeze her eggs.

Am I the only one that can not see Taylor with a child?

I've listened for 9 years and I've never believed for a second that she ever wanted kids. No judgement, I don't either, I just wish she'd accept and trust her own decisions. Having a kids because you think you might regret not having them is the worst idea ever IMO.

I completely agree. I think it's a terrible idea to bring a kid into the world when you don't really want it with all of your heart.
Offline
Yeah but lots of people have kids and don't know they want it with all their heart until they do it. I'm like Taylor, I'm on the fence. It worries me to think I'll never have a family. But the thought of having a kid freaking terrifies me even more.
Offline
If a person is on the fence, more often than not, the desire isn’t that strong, A lot of women( Taylor while married) who keep pushing it off, the truth is they’re pushing it off because it’s not that important. Freezing her eggs creates an illusion for herself and others.
Offline
My mom was previously married, and never wanted kids then she met my father and wanted kids with him. Some people don't want children period. I more see Taylor not wanting to bring children into her situation.
Offline
As the mom to a 20-something, semi-self-supporting daughter I make these deals all the time. I'm sure her parents were going to help her with some financial situation anyhow but decided to throw in some stipulations (i.e., no swearing) just because they could and T is in no position to complain. Granted, my daughter is a new college grad and just starting in her career, not a 32 year old woman that has been employed and married...

I think Tay is genuinely on the fence about kids, so I think freezing her eggs is smart and responsible on her part. It gives her time to decide what she really wants, and it will increase her odds of having a healthy baby in the future if that's what she chooses. People who don't really want kids don't go to the trouble of freezing their eggs-it's expensive and physically uncomfortable. I do actually see a maternal quality in Tay that would make her a good Mother.
