Re: Book Recommendations

I just finished a new/er book and I'm still not sure how I feel about it!!! It's called "The One That Got Away" by Leigh Himes. It's about a lady who feels like she's stuck in a ho-hum job and marriage (life didn't turn out like she thought it would). She sees, in a magazine, the guy who asked her out...that "one guy" who she said no to, and who is now very rich, very famous, and still very good looking. As she's returning a purse, she falls off the escalator at Nordstroms and wakes up married to Mr. Rich and Famous. Only she still remembers her old life.
Does she really have it better? Was it so bad after all?? You'll have to read it to find out...but PLEASE let me know what you think!!! I'm still debating!!

Re: Book Recommendations

I need some great book recommendations please. I love books like the girl on the train and gone girl and luckiest girl alive. Psychological thriller types. Please and thank you!

Re: Book Recommendations

The Girls by Emma Cline is supposed to be the new hot book. I also am currently reading The Silent Wife by ASA Harrison. This was described as like Gone Girl but better in a blog. I just started it, so TBD. Also any of Gillian Flynn's other novels (Sharp Objects and Dark Places) are also good.

Re: Book Recommendations

How was Luckiest Girl Alive?? I've been waiting for it to be sent to my library. All of the copies in my city are taken so it must be good? Or a lot of hype?

Re: Book Recommendations

ChanelBag I loved luckiest girl alive! it was pretty dark, but I was taken by it. Definitely Gillian Flynn esque.

GreatTaste, I'm listening to The Girls right now, and haven't yet gotten hooked quite yet, but I'll be patient.

I love all of Gillian flynns books. Dark places was amazing and sharp objects was great too. I've heard about the girls, maybe I'll try that one.

Luckiest girl alive was great. It was an easy read. I enjoyed it. It's really amazing to witness how the main character changes throughout the story.

Oh good! I'm glad you liked it! It's definitely not going to win any book awards but it was a fun read for vacation!

Just out of curiosity, which Gillian Flynn book did you like the best? I personally thought Gone Girl was the best, but I had friends that scoffed and said the other two were way better. I personally just found the themes in Gone Girl to be culturally reflective moreso than the other two, which I enjoy in a book.
