Money

I get the feeling that this was/is Tay's prospective on money- what's yours is mine and what's mine is mine. Good thing Brett kept her name off his bank accounts and only put her name on a joint credit card for shared home purchases. She didn't save a cent (so she says) of her salary while they were married?!? And she felt her marriage was in a bad place for years?!?! Not so smart, guuuurrll.

Her story of panic attacks of how much she was spending on her and TD's trip to Puerto Rico (and also her sibling trip to Miami) was very telling. I wonder how she would've reacted to Brett on any of their trips if he was upset by how much thier dinners and drinks were costing HIM.

Once whatever money she got from Brett in divorce is gone, she's going to tailspin. Then we'll see how in love she really is with the freelance videographer/photographer/nanny. (ouch, I know...)

Good call, DA. Your analysis is spot on!

Re: Money

I agree that her view of money is very off!! I was just saying this on another thread. I understand that she has to pay for things on her own now, and has always had someone else taking care of her(parents to Brett) but she's a lot better off than many listeners. She must've gotten a decent amount in the divorce and probably gets paid good money. She has an apartment in Manhattan in a building with a lot of amenities, so it's not cheap. She pays for things she doesn't use (she said so herself) zip car, weworks and soho house (idk how often she goes).

Either accept that your $ situation is different now or put in the work to get your career where u want it. If she could work with the constructive criticism of fans she would go far.

If you read this forum, everyone has different opinions about the show, different likes and dislikes about the show. Different opinions on who should be the new cohost. Some people loved Kenny, some people disliked him and harshly criticized the job he was doing. How can she follow the suggestions on this forum? Which suggestions? Make one person happy and the next 9 posters will dislike it. I think she needs to be herself, keep growing as a person, and do the best she can. She's the one that has been on the radio for a decade.

I totally agree she has to be herself and I want her to grow her brand. She can reject/accept any criticism or suggestions she wants. She regularly dismisses this board as trolls, but she may find some good things here if she weeded through the negative. Matt has done so. I wasn't trying to suggest which ideas she could work with, but rather that she could try to see if anything here appeals to her. I wasn't clear but I meant for her to consider ways for her to boost her career to the top, not ways to keep every fan happy. That is impossible lol especially with such a large fanbase. She's been on radio for so long, I think she knows what she's doing and explained why the show was stale for a while. But she wants to go beyond radio, like TV. If it hasn't happened for the past few years, she can consider new methods of getting her brand out there. I think she has the potential to be a tv personality.  Which is one of the reasons I like Matt. Since he's come in, it seems like there has been momentum.

I thought I read somewhere on this board that she got a couple hundred thousand after the divorce.

Re: Money

Am I correct in assuming she got 1.7 mil after she sold her share of the apartment to Brett after the divorce? How does that work?

Taylor 100% reads every post on these boards because she is a classic narcissist and a glutton for punishment. She needs to know what every one thinks about her.
Also, she references things you guys say on the boards on air all the time. For example, today she said "And some people are like 'OMG of course she would try to turn a work vacation into a personal vacation.'

Which is stupid- if she wants a vacation she can take one. My point is she does read all of this!
Even after reading her article with Women's Health I do not think Taylor is really in love with TD. I think TD is a new shiny toy. Beautiful and exciting, and treats Taylor nicely. Will they stay together forever and have babies? No because Taylor is bad with money, (is TD a trust fund baby? Or is her business just very successful?) and TD will grow tired of Taylor's drama and selfish ways

Well she definitely said that he's still living in their old place so I wonder if she did sell her share? Or did she even own the apt with him or was it just him.

Re: Money

The real estate records show her half has sold to get her name off the apt. I'd guess this was a paperwork transaction. They had a prenup and I doubt she paid anything toward the down payment. So I'd guess without knowing anything she got something but not 1.7m then he'd be paying his original mtg plus come out of pocket 1.7m.

I have to say I agree. I think Taylor is extremely confused right now. In the article she says they first kissed on a trip to Miami. Looking back on her IG, I think that places it in April of last year. She wasn't even divorced yet. Not like that means much considering she and Brett were separated, but the article says they barely separated in february. I think she is very attracted to TD and loves the attention she gets from her (i.e. she films her "all the time") but I really think this is a phase for Taylor.

At her new building, zillow says rent is estimated at $4000 a month. I don't want to hear complaints about my money anymore.  🙄

Wow I don't want to hear her complaints either 🙄 It sounds like a pretty nice building in a good area. Idr of she's said what area it was. That's almost $50,000 a year in rent alone. I dont even make that in a year. I nanny part time and get paid decent but not enough for that lol

I'm pretty sure she legally changed her name. This was very important to Brett.  But she always used Strecker for her professional career. I'm also really surprised she is listed as an owner of the apartment, considering their prenup and situation. I wonder if she threw a fit to have her name on there.

You shouldn't have to throw a fit to get your husband to put your name on your house.

I agree! Maybe its different dealing in that sort of money, especially if it were family money, but a house to me is a couple thing. And this is coming from a single girl who owns her own home, I would totally add my boyfriend to the house if we get married.

I recently listened to an old show where she discussed this. The day they got married, she signed the wedding license as Taylor Epstein (she said she doesn't really know why she did that, caught up in the moment). She didn't legally change it, however. After a comment about her monogrammed luggage should be changed to T A E (Taylor Ashley Epstein) she started to freak out. Then she justified not changing it, complained about how much work and time it would take to go and change her license, bills, etc and that in business she was known as tay strecker and she REALLY had an attachment to her last name. So she went by taylor strecker for work stuff, but wedding invitations were addressed to mr and mrs epstein.

Re: Money

I'm not sure how that is possible since you sign your maiden name on a wedding license. It actually says maiden name under the signature line. You have not legally changed your name at the time of the ceremony. Your name doesn’t change until you bring a certified copy of your marriage license to your local social security office. Perhaps she signed the ketubah with her married name, which is strictly symbolic and used as a piece of art in the home.

And like the above poster said. You can not obtain a mortgage with a name that is not your legal name. My issue is with Taylor lying. Just own it.

I had to sign my married name on my license. I actually signed my maiden name and had to cross it out.
