One thing is for sure. Dinner+ booze cruise + goodie bag does not add up to $1400....I don't understand how someone can flagrantly lie to defend their point. It's so obvious Taylor was trying to rip her listeners off.

I'm wondering though if maybe it didn't have anything to do with the trip? If that was the reason and there were lawyers involved, I would assume they would be told not to talk about it? Like couldn't Momma lying publicly get Tay in massive trouble??

FKF, I am not a lawyer by any means (and I know very little about the law), but how do you figure she could get in trouble for her mother lying? Not sure what grounds Babette would be violating. The trip is out there and everything is documented, so I feel like there is no going back on the fact that she was planning on doing it.

Is her mom for real!? lol I only started listening a few years ago and that started as hate listening. I find it entertaining but I'm a pretty casual listener so I've missed a lot of these things being referenced. I didn't give it much thought but I assumed she exaggerated the drama side of things to make herself seem more like a reality personality. Like, her real drama level is a 5 but she amps it up to an 8 for entertainment for the show kind of thing. After seeing what her mom posted, obviously I was pretty wrong.

I guess that makes more sense! Anytime I've known anyone to be involved in legal stuff, its been hush hush. If the cause of her being fired was the trip, I'm surprised her mom is out there talking about it. You're probably right though and It wouldn't make a difference as its all out there.

I wonder what the extra money was for then? Like Babette did her Dads books, she can add, she would know that's not adding up right?

Wowzers. Good thing Taylor will never have a reality show becaus ol' Babs would stroke out over the Internet commentary.

I do think this post is very telling of their dynamic. How can she beleive this was really about "loving her listeners"? As has been said before, she would have an event that doesn't COST $1,400 AND REQUIRE A PASSPORT.

ETA it also stands to reason that Taylor would only do an event like this under these circumstances so she won't have to hang out with "poor" listeners. Heaven forbid she have an event in NYC and *gasp* listeners travel through the Port Authority to see her. 🙄

Hi everyone! I'm a newbie and don't really get a chance to stalk and develop theories on FB. I do love Taylor and the show, and have been equally curious as to what the EFF is going on. I never knew this existed, again because I don't have much time... not to say ya'll do but, I just have been so satisfied with listening to the show that i haven't sought out anything else.

I had to reply to this comment in particular because it made me LOL so hard! I read that on FB and was like "I don't understand this question."

I say this because I’ve had this theory in my mind that maybe Katie went to Sirius to verify she would be paid for the days and her expenses covered and that’s when the whole thing unraveled.

Before all this went down, I had asked if the entire team was going. Taylor never made mention on Air that Katie would be going but if they’re going to record I would assume she would be. I kind of have a feeling hat the “taping an hour of the show” was kind of just thrown in there, that’s the part I don’t think they thought through very well, amongst everything else. Maybe she thought she could just tape it on her phone or something.

Maybe so. I mean if Katie brought it up to management I wouldn’t blame her and I doubt she had any ill will but I bet Taylor didn’t consider bringing along Katie and any other necessary equipment

During the big announcement, Taylor did say "we" are going to record a Wake Up segment in the beach and will broadcast it on a later date.

Given that Katie is the producer and only other full-time employee of the show, that would imply she is a part of the "we".

Taylor also spoke very matter of fact about her travel dates to make me think she had already booked her airline tickets.

The fact that Babs responded with such venom makes me think that maybe this was all due to the trip. And actually my mom would probably defend me just as much...but she wouldn’t be able to figure out Instagram so it would end up in cyberspace somewhere.

I actually am feeling pretty awful for Taylor. Imagine you honestly being so stupid that you just think this is the way trips are done and then bam you lose the only business/job you’ve had for the last 12 years. And it’s not an easy business to pick yourself up from. I can’t imagine she went into it saying, “Let me scam my listeners”. It was probably more along the lines of, “Let me try and get some things comped by combining this with work.” Not to say that’s the right thing to do I just don’t think she meant it with harm. And as much as I think wakeup should’ve been cancelled in time due to her being lazy and phoning it in (and lack of listeners due to that), it’s pretty awful when you are fired because you are stupid.

I felt bad for her too until we put the pieces together and I still feel bad and miss the show but after ten years she should’ve known better, her team should’ve known better

Yes. Taylor would have spent 4 hours of her vacation (10 days?) with the listeners. With her own hard earned money... Bwah. Then why charge 1400.00???? Doh! The money for her vacay was coming from the listeners. I knew that Babette was as delusional as her daughter.

I posted the same a few pages back, I feel bad and think it was just sheer stupidity that landed her here. She isn't going to bounce back well, and I feel really awful for her about that.

Now, if we're the basement trolls, can the FB group get a nickname??? They're now off posting on the XM wall that she was cancelled because Howard (at $20mil/year) was jealous of her popularity and had her shut down 😂

It was greed for sure. She didn't wake up thinking I'm going to con my listeners, but she certainly did wake up and think, Hmmmmmmm how can I get a vacay paid for?
