Michelle Collins Show

Just listened for a bit on my way to work. I really liked that she came in prepared with relevant up to date topics, I loved the callers who gave varying opinions and weren’t cut off. She does say like a lot and has a bit of a valley girl voice but I honestly think I would sound like that too.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

I was just coming here to post the same thing!  I am enjoying her show so far.  So much better than Jenny Hutt in the mornings in my opinion. And a nice replacement for those who still have Sirius and who don't want to pay an extra $7 per month for Taylor.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

I loved her on The View and stopped watching after she left. Her podcast is awesome too. Hope she continues to do the podcast.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

Agreed that she is better than Jenny. I think Jenny has her audience but it's not what I'm interested in talking about. I dont' have kids and I gave up obsessing about my weight a few years ago.
Michelle seems positive and upbeat but normal. She's trying to do a good job but she's not trying to be something she is not.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

I'm disappointed I keep missing it but On Demand episodes aren't available yet, hopefully they will be soon.

They are available! I downloaded them both this morning.
A little slow now, but I think she'll get her groove soon. It's a whole new cast of characters to learn about, but she is well connected and knowledgeable!

Re: Michelle Collins Show

Does anyone else see a picture of Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child on their dash when they listen to Michelle Collins' show in the car? lol. I wonder who at Sirius is responsible for inputting the picture of the talent ??

On a side-note, I find it amusing that Taylor is contantly yelling/bragging about the fact that she is "coding" the description to TSS into the podcast app. Bitch, there's probably some pre-populated HTML in there, and you're just typing in some text describing the show! Coding. Please.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

Did anyone listen to her interview with Scheana?????? Michelle pushes and pushes and it's fantastic! Scheana seems like a real ass hole. (IMO) Defensive AF.

She addressed this on yesterday's show but I only caught a bit of it.  Sounds like they were laughing about it and hoping that it got changed, although Michelle was hoping it would bring more listeners!

Re: Michelle Collins Show

Michelle Collins is the best!! Today's show was hilarious. She did say that she was continuing with the podcast(which is now called Edit That Out, instead of Fresh Batch).

Re: Michelle Collins Show

Interesting since Taylor said she wasn't allowed to have her own podcast when she worked at Sirius.

I always wondered why she didn't negotiate her contract to allow podcasts since it's obvious from other Sirius talent that it's possible to do.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

Maybe the reason is that Michelle already had a podcast before being hired by Sirius, so maybe she negotiated to keep it.

Really?  Can she even spell podcast?  Taylor can't keep up with anything remotely technical, much less do additional work.  She's only doing one now because her livelihood depends on it.  Maria Menounos has a podcast too.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

I listened again today. So far I’ve listened maybe 3 or 4 mornings for only about a half hour and each time there’s been an interview. I don’t remember Taylor having that many interviews months before she was let go. Do you think it’s possible they were slowly trying to push her out anyway? Or do you think it was Katie’s fault as the producer? (Is she still at Sirius btw?) I just can’t believe how engaging Michelle is in these interviews even if I don’t love everything she says or does. She laughs a lot. But actually it makes me laugh so I guess that’s ok.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

Michelle's show blows Taylor's out of the water, imo. Her stories are so fresh and funny(maybe eventually she'll start repeating herself, but I doubt it.) She's engaged with the world and is passionate about life. I have never laughed out loud so much.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

I'm assuming interviews are secured through the producers, the visibility of the host and old-fashioned hustle.  Having friends in high places probably doesn't hurt (Matt doesn't cut it).  Through all those years at Cosmo and Sirius, did Taylor connect with talent managers or follow through with networking?  Did she hustle or did she grab the low hanging fruit through her friendship with Stassi?

Michelle is killing it and I really enjoy listening.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

Does she do the show alone? Ugh I have to listen I keep forgetting !! I really liked her the week she filled in. If she is on demand I’m listening now!!

Re: Michelle Collins Show

I vaguely recall taylor saying celebs didn’t want to come in so early to do interviews and she refused to stay late to record them for at least the last year or two. It seems like after Kenny left, she put no effort to do any after air work, such as interviews.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

I just wish she started earlier. I’m already at work before she even comes on. I tried listening one day and there were only five minutes left. It was Carson Kresley, whom I normally find interesting. I was bored. But I definitely get that’s not a fair chance. I just forget to listen now that it has been so long without a good morning show. I did listen to Jenny M after that and she was great!

Correct me if I’m wrong (this is about Taylor and interviews), but they used to send out a list of who was coming to Sirius (famous people) and you would say if you wanted to interview them or have them on your show or not and then sign up. Taylor just told a story this/last week about not wanting to interview Taylor Swift because she didn’t know who she was and how gracious she ended up being in that interview (it’s why she likes TS vs. Katy Perry).

Having said that, I don’t think she liked to stay at all to do the later interviews. She definitely thought she was all that and a bag of chips (great at live interviewing), so she wanted them to be in person, on the air. I’m sure when she was on for 4 hours per day she wanted to go home asap and get her nap on! Just kidding... I don’t know what she did. Went to meetings at WeWorks? 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Another interview today. Did anyone listen to Kathy Lee Gifford? I would just love your thoughts.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

I think Michelle's a great interviewer. Having said that, KLG is not necessarily my cup of tea. Too much preaching. I get it-she was promoting a book with a religious theme, but I'm just not a fan of people proselytising their faith. Michelle is so funny and quick, so it seemed like her talent was wasted in such a serious interview. On a side note, it sounds like she stayed late for each of the interviews that she's done. She obviously knows how to put in the work.

I totally agree.  I am not religious, so I am uncomfortable when people can't have a conversation without bringing God and/or Jesus up.  KLG could not say one sentence without God or Jesus.  I understand she was promoting her book, but she was not doing an interview on a religious channel.  I think Michelle handled it really well and focused on how happy KLG is instead of the religious aspects.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

I just wanted to put it out there to see if I’m being crazy. I’m not religious at all so thought maybe it was just me being over sensitive but she sounded like a bit of a fanatic. You could even tell Michelle was trying to move away from the religious parts but KLG just kept bringing it full circle. I wonder if she’s some sort of born again whatever (Christian, Jew, etc). I was raised Jewish and my brother converted to Catholicism in his 30’s. He’s become a religious zealot.

Is producer Katie not on the morning slot anymore? Miss her.

Re: Michelle Collins Show

She’s definitely not on Michelle’s show. I wonder if she left Sirius altogether?

So this morning Michelle had Ryan whatever from Million Dollar Listing and he spoke about how he gets a facial every other week!!! First off I get one twice a year and would maybe go once a month if I was wealthy. But secondly, I cannot imagine being married to a man like that. Not that it’s wrong or bad, I just can’t actually imagine it.

I hate Michelle Collins' intro, but the show is much better produced than WU was. I like that Michelle talks about her real life... like as in stuff she does during the day. Also heard Maria's show on my way in yesterday and it had me crying in the car... Rachel Platten and a brain cancer survivor! 😭 Good stuff!

That intro is brutal. It’s like 5 minutes long

Re: Michelle Collins Show

yeah, I like her well enough and I do think she's trying to amp up the energy of the show.
But I feel like Sirius said "ok this is all we got", and put her on the air.  There wasn't one other potential or test show.  Even said "intro is already done!"  I wonder if she said, um can I redo it?  Here's hoping she does, because I agree its horrid.
