Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

When they were talking about Halloween costumes and the college kid who dressed as Bill Cosby and the co-host said something like he got expelled at least. Wtf?? So ruining someone's life because of a Halloween costume. That's so fucked up.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

I was sick of the yearly last minute "what should I be for Halloween?" from Taylor again...but even worse was her thinking she'd get attention by tossing in, "I'm going to be Kim Kardashian in the Paris robbery," every time she had a new co-host, followed by, "Too soon?" just for attention. Yes...never was too soon. It's not funny. And I hate KK.

I disagree, I think it's pretty hilarious, and if you didn't do it this year, next year will be too late. I literally am not offended by any Costumes.

me either.  hey, if chris jenner can contemplate milking her own daughter's trauma for ratings, why can't one dress up similarly just for one evening of fun.

Taylor mentioned the splitting the bill evenly vs itemizing when you go to dinner with friends- what do you all think?

I'm not a big drinker, for no particular reason other than I just don't like the taste that much and cocktails are expensive so I'd rather not spend the money on something I don't even like that mich. for that reason, I prefer to pay just my portion.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

I limit who I eat out with, and prefer to either split it up evenly, or take turns buying. I have a few friends will eat most of the apps, then when the bill comes say "Well I only ordered an entre and a pop and everyone else had wine, so here's my bit" They (I'm speaking of people I actually know, not you DB!) are also usually the crapper tippers so everyone else is throwing in more to cover them. That's why I now limit nice dinner to certain people. You wanna grab a pizza, sure...lets split 'er up!

Funny WTF story...

A "friend" who I no longer eat out with (or really see at all lol) called me at work one day and said she had a BOGO coupon for an Italian restaurant close by and did I want to go. Sure! Bill comes and she hands it to me, reminding me she had a free coupon

It all depends.  My ideal scenario is to have everyone order about the same and share a bottle (or two?) of nice wine.  In that case, right down the middle (I always overtip unless I know what the other person is leaving).  That's mostly how our group rolls.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

OMG FKFriday that is bananas! When I go to dinner with a friend and coupon we still split it.

The way I usually handle dinner situations when everyone else orders a lot of drinks is when it's about time for the check, I speak right up and his say "we'll have separate checks please, and you can put the appetizer on mine." And I always tip 20% unless the service is horrible. Haha I'm not cheap, just don't want to subsidize everyone's booze. 😋

If nobody drinks I'm totally cool with splitting it equally.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

FKFriday, I feel your pain. I have a friend who took me out to lunch on my b-day to a restaurant that gives free birthday  meal to those who belong to their frequent eaters club. To clarify, the invite was "I want to take you out for lunch on your birthday". So we eat, bill comes and my friend says to the waitress, please take off one meal as its her (my) birthday". The waitress asked if I had received my free birthday dinner voucher in the mail. I had never been to this restaurant before nor was I aware beforehand that this restaurant had free birthday dinners. So my friend THREW A FIT in the restaurant. And then said, "well, I guess we need seperate checks!" Omg. Never again. Ever. This was the same friend that scolded me for having too many bed linens in my linen closet. Why are you looking jn my linen closet?!?!?!

Whenever we go out with friends we ask for seperate bills. Thats pretty much the norm for everyone I know. Restaurants are used to it and even ask "is this seperate or together?" I've noticed tho when travelling to NYC especially, that alot of restaurants will not do seperate bills for a table. Which then can make it a bit more awkward when the bill comes and you're trying to figure out who owes what. I know it might sound petty to some people, but lots of times I do not order dessert or alcohol and other people at the table might have 2 or 3 drinks each. Why should I have to pay for that?

I don't wanna start an argument, which I think this board has been super respectful abt all this, but do you think it might be bc she doesn't get the email scandal and doesn't want to have to learn or read about it. And Kenny isn't there to, while also not knowing, to google and skim and spew out random half sentences so she brings up Trumps scandals bc she understands the subject matter. I tyically prefer to pay for what I order. I'm not a big drinker, so I rarely order alcohol. When I do, sometimes I feel bad getting a second drink if no one else does. I'm also a vegetarian, which tends to be a little less expensive than meat. Basically, I like to be somewhat in control of what I am going to pay. Now that I make a little more money at my job, it's not as bad...but early/mid 20s I definitely did the "fingers crossed my card would go through" game more than once with evenly split bills.

The other day I did end up going out to sushi with friends and just got a $3 roll. My portion of the bill ended up be $40 + tip. It was fine, but would have loved for someone to say "No1WiderFan might be overpaying..."

If it's just a matter of $5-10 or it's friends I go out with often, split evenly! If not, my preference is to pay for what I ate with a healthy tip.

Totally don't see you being like that, DB!!!

We do a girly trip every year to the Caribbean. A friend of mine is a travel agent and basically if we can book 5 people (3 rooms, 6 total with me) my trip is free. I have NEVER taken it, I could never do that to my girls. We split the trip 6 ways so everyone gets a deal.

Dinner chick always wants to come, she wants to pick dates hotels, blah, blah, blah. One year we had a place picked and she insisted we go some where else. Fine, it's -30 here, we just want heat and booze. Come to find out, she has a free trip due to messups on another she was on. Fine, great deal all around. We're on the phone and I say something about splitting the total 6 ways and she's like "Oh no, don't forget mines free!" Yeah, maybe next year you can come!

Yeah, well good luck finding a media outlet (other than fox news) that isn't so far up the Dems a-hole that they won't see the light of day for at least 4 years.  If Matt is such a Trump fan, I'm wondering how he's been able to sit in the studio listening to some of the guests she's had on recently and not go ape shit.

I don't know about Matt, but what keeps me from getting my panties in a bunch too much over Taylor's political talk is that she really is ignorant AF and doesn't actually know what she's talking about. I think that's pretty apparent to anyone listening with half a clue. And I think Farts got it right- she doesn't want to actually learn about anything because it's not "fun" like the scandy with Trump.

If anyone called in and asked her what issues are important to her and which candidate she felt best represented those issues and why, we would get crickets. Case in point- yesterday when she said to the girl from The Skimm "doesn't Trump want to repeal gay marriage?!" and the girl was like "ummmm I don't think he's said anything about that."

Also, just for the record, Republican as I may be, I am firmly pro-choice and all for gay marriage.

For me it depends on who I'm with and how many people are in the group. If it's just one or two friends and our orders are decently close, I don't mind splitting evenly but I make significantly less than some of my friends and sometimes just can't afford to pay for more than I ordered (especially with some who love to keep ordering more bottles of wine).
However, I've also been on the other end when I've ordered a much higher bill than others in the group and pointed out that they shouldn't have to pay for more than their app.
(side note - this is my first post - hey all!)

Trump has said that he thinks gay marriage should be up to each state and that he would strongly consider appointing justices to overturn the same-sex marriage decision.

I agree that Taylor is painfully uninformed but I do think she has issues which are important to her...gay rights and women's rights. I think that's why every political story is basically anti-Trump. She's not a reporter and is just giving her side. It would be nice if there was someone that came is with an opposing view but all the cohosts have pretty much shared her views.

hmm mayb tay does retain some of what she hears.  I personally want her to bring someone on with opposing political view as this is not that kind of show.  at one time, wuwt never touched current events.  but now they do at least dip their toes in. again, I don't listen to wuwt for news.  I go to cnn, fox or msnbc. also everyone's opinion is valid and opinions can change.  I am maybe a little bit up on the goings ons in the middle east but once I express something to my brother, he is able to run down the history of what's going on over there and the different tribes and conflicts, chapter and verse.  I walk away feeling a little dumber, not really, but certainly not well versed and my bro isn't trying to make me feel bad.
