Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

I didn't (not sure if I will) listen to Monday, but I am almost done with Tuesday and I while I just love Clay Aiken, I thought Taylor was especially bratty that day, too. She reminded me of a high school girl who was in the rich mean girl group. I first noticed it when she said in that 'blurty/breathy' voice, "when I was rich. And married. And had money." That was during a conversation about being able to work from home.  Later, she did the blurting thing again. Kind of like, "Pay attention to me...I'm going to blurt shit out if you don't." She just kept trying to talk over Clay (the best part about him is that he WON'T LET HER!!!).

I also think Clay might be my hero (and even Rob Shuter) because they actually show they are more invested in her show than she is.  It seems as though they have actually taken enough time to do real RESEARCH for the show they are hosting...and not just coming up with 7 Things to blast on repeat. On Tuesday, when Taylor talked about the dude who got the TV show because his dad wanted him to have one (Siesta Key) and how he was getting death threats, Taylor was ready to move on. Clay said, "Why? Well, let's look it up and we will report back in the next set of 7 Things." Typically, Taylor just moves on. Same with Rob...he asked a question to a guest last week and started with "when I was doing research to prepare for the show" and then went on with the rest of his question.

What I'm really curious about though... if she feels like we are trolls, or there are trolls out there, and if she truly believes you should not say something about someone that you would not say to their face, does she not see the irony that she is "hiding behind a microphone" and calling out her ex-SILs, ex-in laws, and any of her friends that she feels have wronged her (all the way back to kindergarten) in probably the most public way possible and NOT to their faces? And do you think she would look all 3 of Brett's sisters in their faces and say the mean shit she says on a daily (sometimes more) basis right straight to them? Me thinks not.

The fact that they don't respond to listeners' questions has become a huge pet peeve of mine. First, they should already be posting who their guests are or what products they are trying! If they don't, at least answer the questions!

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

Anyone sick of hearing the bash fest Taylor and Lori go on about Rob and then she proceeds to gush over him on thursdays..... like how is that not two faced and gross?

I know that Rob make jokes about not liking the other hosts but it actually sounds funny/silly... I don't know if Lori really is that bothered with Rob or if she's just not as good at making jokes/being funny but she sounds almost venomous and makes it a point to bring Rob up every Wednesday so she can trash him...if she doesn't really mean it she needs to work on her delivery or learn to lighten up. Carly had something to say about Rob/competition and it actually sounded funny and silly.

I am saying this as someone who likes listening to most of what Lori says (minus the incessant gushing over being "just like Taylor's mom") ..... also if she could not say "agita" ever again that'd be good too.

Also I thought it was crass, tasteless and classless of Taylor to share a discussion/reprimanding Katie had with Rob on air with Lori. And then laugh about it. If it's something that didn't happen while MICs were on than why talk about it on air?

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

If any of you were listening to Taylor and her "theory" regarding Paris Jackson and Macaulay Culkin's matching spoon tattoos (she decided they must be in love somehow as it had to stand for 'spooning'), I just read this in NY Times online:

This past Saturday, Paris Jackson, daughter of the late Michael, and her godfather Macaulay Culkin walked into the West Hollywood, Calif., ink emporium Tattoo Mania and emerged with matching spoon tattoos on their forearms.

The utensil inkings got celebrity gossipers in a tizzy as they tried to decipher meaning from the everyday objects.

In reality, the spoons stand for nothing devious. Strictly speaking, they relate to “spoon theory,” which ties into a metaphor for those suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome.

But the symbolism is not exactly cut and dry.

“People think of it as a sign of getting through chronic illness or recovering from some kind of an addiction,” says Kevin Wilson, who runs Sacred Tattoo in Manhattan.

“The way I’ve heard, it’s about coming back from some kind of hardship or a type of suffering.”

Earlier this year, Paris, 19, told Rolling Stone that she had attempted suicide “multiple times” as a teen. She also detailed her battle with depression and drugs.

Meanwhile, Culkin, 36, has denied rumors that he has battled drug addiction, telling the Guardian last year, “No, I was not pounding six grand of heroin every month or whatever.”

It was Culkin’s first tattoo, but just one of many for Paris. In June, she had the words “Applehead” scripted on her left foot. Apparently, it was one of the nicknames that her father went by.

Kudos to all of you who still listen!!! We were coming back from camping yesterday and she was replaying in the afternoon. Listened for 10 minutes then found something else, couldn't even tell you today what she was talking about. Makes me sad, I used to listen to the show so much I would listen in the morning, then to the repeat on the way home 😕

Not sure who these people are who give Taylor a hard time for taking time off. But they are crazy. Everyone deserves to take time off of work.

Of course, right after Taylor brings up the people who give her a hard time for taking time off, she has to make the comment of "how hard she worked." Hard work is working construction in the heat and the cold weather 5 days a week. Hard work is not getting paid to hang out in Miami to partake in the Goddess Getaway. Plus, I am sure she writes the entire trip off on her taxes.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

Absolutely hillarious listening to Taylor talking about possibly having to support her parents. She is so lucky that she will never ever have to do that. Her parents are multi-millionares. Good for them. They are blessed, and Taylor is blessed that her parents are very financially secure. Its just so ridiculous that Taylor even goes there that she might one day have to help them.

Just the fact that they paid for Taylor's college (120k), Paige's college (lets say 140k), and Zach's college (200k at least). Plus, paid 30k for Taylor's wedding, and I am sure will spend a bunch of money towards Paige's wedding. You have to be wealthy to be able to do that.

Don't feel right about putting out the info I was able to find about what Taylor's parents house is worth just using google. But anyone can do it based on all the info Taylor has put out there on her show.

But trust me, the Strecker's are multi-millionares.

I agree. Might as well take the vacation time when you're already down there. I do think if she missed getting younger it would've been messed up, but she didn't. Also, my dad is a construction worker in NYC and I'd have to agree that's a job that's really hard work!

That being said, he works hard and makes pretty good money but owning a modest house, having 2 kids, helping me with my student loans on occasion (they couldn't pay for my college) and a bunch of other life stuff, has left my parents with not a lot of savings. My brother and I will likely have to take care of them at some point. It's a reality for some people and that's ok. I haven't heard today yet so I can't react to her take on the situation but at least her parents seem to have money, which would def help if they needed to be taken care of.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

Gonna give some props to Taylor first before I rip on her. I totally get where Taylor is coming from with being sick and tired of buying kids gifts. I have a situation where I am sick of getting holiday gifts for my cousin's children (she has 4 kids). I decided that the two older kids (14 and 13) are definitely not getting any more gifts. Not sure about the young ones yet. I barely see them and just feel like the "family get together" is really just for the kids to receive gifts. Plus, I have ill feeling toward my cousin about some things. What do you guys think?

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

Now to rip Taylor.....During Emma and Taylor's response to the Surprise Me Topic of the Day, Taylor describes herself as a selfish, busy, asshole, who is terrible at keeping in touch. Glad she can admit it. But what cracks me up, is Taylor once again saying that she has no time for anything (writing thank you's, etc.) b/c there is a wage gap, and she has to work extra hard to make for that up. What does a "wage gap" have to do with anything. And exactly what "wage gap" is taking place in Taylor's world. Is there a man doing a similar talk show at Sirius, or at a terrestrial radio station, or a podcast, making more money than Taylor solely b/c the person is a man. WTF....WTF...WTF. Taylor is truly insane. I bet Nicole doesn't spend her time complaining about a perceived "wage gap". She is just out there working hard b/c she wants/has to.

Also, Taylor clearly has an issue with TD not making at least similar money to her. Taylor has hinted at this issue several times before. That is why I truly believe Taylor thinks she has to "work hard". The real truth is, Taylor doesn't think she has to work hard due to a "wage gap", Rather, Taylor thinks she has to work hard b/c TD doesn't make a significant salary, and Taylor grew up upper class and then married into a wealthy family. Taylor feels like she has to "work hard" b/c TD can't provide the lifestyle she wants and is accustomed to.

Thoughts?

Note to Emma....Please start to challenge Taylor on her bullshit. Second, at least send a gift already for your nephew. What the hell is wrong with you.

And Taylor, send your friend a dam baby gift already. You don't have to spend a lot. Baby gifts are not expensive. Just do what you can afford. But do it already.

Exactly where is Taylor working so hard?
Since the divorce the only side projects she has done are Getting Younger and the Goddess Girl retreats.
She barely even touches social media.

Mr. Mans- I feel you on this one. I have a big family- 4 sibings, and I'm 20 years younger than my oldest sibling. So I have 13 nieces and nephews and 9 great-nieces and great-nephews at age 37. (I know- it's weird.) So buying gifts went out the window a long time ago; I simply could not afford to buy birthday and Christmas gifts for all of them- I have two kids of my own, too. So when they are little, I buy gifts for birthdays and Christmas IF I'm going to see you on your birthday or for Christmas. Like, you have to be 10 and under and still young enough that birthday gifts are a big deal. Other than that, nope. Once you are bigger you don't need gifts from your aunt, you can get those from parents, grandparents, friends, etc. All of my nieces and nephews are adults now, so now only the little greats receive gifts from me, and only when I'll physically be with them for the holiday. Cousins and cousins kids? Have never exchanged gifts with extended family. I have 22 cousins on my dad's side, and 12 on my mom's, lmao! It's just not gonna happen; none of us buy anything for each other. If we get together for holidays it's just to have fun together, no gifts required. Hope that helps!

I don't understand why she doesn't do more social media.  It really takes very little effort to snap one photo a day to put on instagram.  Part of why I love Clay so much is he calls her out... When she mentioned how hard she was working to him he said something like, "what, until 10 AM?" I understand the hours for Getting Younger may be difficult, but she really doesn't seem to work much outside the show hours. That's totally cool, btw, if you can work less than 40 hours/week and make a living. Just don't go on and on about how busy you are and how early you wake up.

The way I see it- people make time for whatever really matters to them. Always. If Taylor hasn't been out to see that baby or has not sent a gift, it's because it's not a priority to her- and her friend knows it. If she is angry, that is probably why. I think the "wage gap" argument (and I'll be clear- I do believe that wage gap is a thing in our society) is just how she justifies using work as an excuse to not see her friends. Because I don't think she likes those friends anymore, and that's ok. But just own it. Say, you know, I've grown out of these friends, or whatever, and I resent that they persist in wanting me to still pursue friendship. I think that is what is really going on. I don't think the wage gap will keep her and TD relegated to the poor house; I think as long as they both keep working, they will be ok. My lesbian friends are doing just fine on their own salaries- they would be offended if I suggested that the lack of a man would keep them down.

As far as money, well, she is pretty obsessed with that at the moment. I have no idea what she thinks about TD's salary, but she def wants a certain lifestyle- apparently, the one she was accustomed to her whole life, marriage aside. (I didn't know about the Strecker's being so wealthy). But I did recently talk to a friend who lived in NYC for 10 years (who just moved to Chicago) and asked if someone who lives in a doorman building in NYC and who has a membership to SoHo House could possibly be poor. He laughed and laughed and then said, "yeah, no." Lol. He said unless she is just cash poor from living beyond her means, there is no way you can live that way unless you have money. So there is that.
