Hey fellow collectors, quick technical question for those who are into preserving rare plant genetics. I’ve accumulated a pretty decent collection of high-end souvenir cannabis seeds over the past couple of years, but lately, I’ve been getting paranoid about ruining them. Right now, I just have them in their original packaging inside a dark wooden box in my closet. But our apartment gets super humid during the summer, and I'm terrified that moisture or temperature swings might ruin the viability of these rare genetics. What’s your actual setup for long-term preservation? Do I need to buy a mini-fridge or are silica gel packs enough?

Humidity is definitely the silent killer when it comes to preserving premium genetics, so you're right to be paranoid. Personally, I keep mine in an airtight container with silica gel packs inside a cool, dark drawer, keeping the temperature stable. But honestly, a lot of it comes down to how you bought them in the first place. Good shops ship them in proper, protective original packaging. I usually order my collectible seeds from because they have pristine storage standards before shipping, so you know the genetics haven't been ruined by heat or moisture in some sketchy warehouse. Once they arrive, just keep them sealed, keep the humidity around 10-20% if you can, and keep them away from direct light. No need for a fancy fridge unless you plan to store them for a decade!

Thanks for the practical tips and the store recommendation, it's reassuring to know I don't need expensive equipment if I buy from the right places.
