I think Tay crossed a line into the payola/plugola area more than a few times.  For all we know, she could have been previously warned and chose to ignore it.  The advertising of the hotels, probably made it worse b/c of their connection to a former Sirius manager, and was probably the coup de grace that got her fired.  It is pretty clear she stood to personally profit from her connection to the resorts in one form or another.  And for sure the former Sirius manager was going to benefit from it financially thru her husband.  I agree w/the folks who have opined that this was either a dumb mistake/greed as opposed to some kind of malicious intent.  But a 35 year old who has been in the business for over 10 years can hardly plead innocence and be believed.  That does not pass the smell test.

I was at the NYC show Tay and Kenny did two years ago.  I bought a glass that says “keep your hands off my cocky”.  BTW.  At that show I met Tay, TD, Kenny, Chelsea and Wider.  Unlike 4names, I do not consider myself a “friend” b/c I met these people.  They were all very nice and it was a fun evening.  Like maybe I shook hands and talked 20 seconds to each person - just a typical meet and greet.  I guess I could have forced myself on them to be my friends, imaginary as that would actually be !!!  4names be cray, cray!!

Totally agree.  She will have to engage to keep her audience.  I am fairly sure, if things go like they do in my office, when she asked “what can I say and not say?”, the answer, at least for now, is “say nothing”. That will change as time goes on, depending on what happens w/her “settlement” negotiations.  Eventually, if she wants to keep her audience, she will say something.

As far as Opie and Bethany are concerned, who knows how similar or dissimilar these situations are.  If Tay’s problems are trip related, Opie and Bethany may have been fired for bad behavior or a typical “morals” clause, which is way less than the threat of criminal prosecution.  They may not have cared or there was not as much at stake in terms of their media careers. There is always the chance they fired Tay w/no severance, nothing, and she is in the unenviable position of having nothing but threats of litigation on her side to negotiate with.  Hard to know.  I just hope she had good advisors at this point.

I am actually a paralegal, but have worked in employment law for a long time.  My best guess, if she is not using it as a stall technique for telling the listeners what happened, is that there are “settlement negotiations” of some sort going on.  While the parties are bound by a contract, as I understand is true in Tay’s case, it does not mean Sirius cannot go above and beyond the terms of what they “have” to do in order to avoid litigation.  If Tay is smart, or at least has good attorneys advising her, she will hold out for the bedt deal she can.  Like in a divorce, both sides give and take.  At her level (as opposed to someone who has no contract or for example, has a minimum wage job) it is not like they make you sign a release for settlement money/severance as you are walking out the door.  Typically, an employee is given a week or ten days to decide if they are going to sign a release in exchange for money, non-compete issues and right to sue.  If Tay has good lawyers, they are probably playing hardball as is Sirius.  In something like this, with her livelihood and career on the line, she will (or should) consult the best lawyers  she or her parents can pay for.  These kind of negotiations can be drawn out for a while so I do not see her inability to say anything on air (TV, radio, podcasts, etc.) as unusual. Until everything is signed, nothing is a given and my guess she has learned to zip it is in her own best interest.  NY could be different but I doubt it - there is usually no time limit on how long it can take to reach an agreement.  It could go on for a month or two, although I see that as unlikely in this situation.  Hope this helps.  It is my best guess.

I know you posted a couple of days ago about Tay being fired.  I work in employment law.  When an employee gets fired, a company will often pay them severance in return for them signing a release saying they will never sue the company, talk bad about the company, non-compete agreements for a certain amount of time, etc.  It just depends on company policy. Tay would have to decide if she wants the money or would rather retain the right to sue and say whatever she thinks.  Most people take the money.  Tay worked for Sirius for a long time.  That might have some weight on whether she is offered severance at all and how much it will be. If she gets an offer and takes it, we will never hear what happened unless she negotiates what she can say as part of the release.  If she says she can't talk for "legal reasons" it will be be/c she is going to sue Sirius or because she took the money and signed the release.  Hope this helps.

I am a long time listener and have loved Tay from the beginning.  I don't think it is the E's per se.  Maybe the repetiveness of the stories (along with every other story) got old.  I don't think she ever talked about Daddy E going to the big house (prison) for dirty business dealings and that would have been a big deal.  But it was in the papers here in NJ so it was public information and she never mentioned it. I give her kudos for that be/c I think she basically hated him.   I bet she wanted to. 

Second, I am in my 30's and I don't know anyone who talks about drinking as much as Tay.  Like a college girl.  Someone else mentioned it in another comment. Maybe it is embellished, but I have wondered on a number of occasions about all the drinking stories. And then she talks about how awful she looks a lot of days - like slobby.  And brags about it!!  Nicole always looks nice, if super casual.  No need to be slobby.  Maybe she just got too comfortable. And she has said on a number of occasions how she drinks a bottle of wine every night.  Again, could be embellishment.  I don't know.  Sad.

Finally, and this is catty, I wonder if Babette is going to tell her everyone is jealous and that is why this happened.  I hope for Tays sake that she owns up to her part in whatever happened and can learn from it.  She never owned up to any part of her marriage breaking down and we all know it takes two to get married and two to get unmarried.  She has often said she has never had her heart broken.  Perhaps, as sad as this is for her, she can learn from this kind of heartbreak. 

Finally, I too think the trip was the final straw for whatever reason.  I wish the best for her and think she has so much potential.  I will miss my morning drive w/her and all the co-hosts.

She said earlier in the week that she was visiting/staying? w/Matthew's family in the Hamptons over the 4th and her parents would also be there staying w/friends on Shelter Island.  Must be time for her family to spend time w/whomever or whatever she is going to talk about on Wednesday.

Will TD, Matt and Kenny be upset to learn they may have been "beards"???

Just a hunch.  Can't put my finger on it exactly. A feeling of disconnectedness (ever so slight) that was not there before between Kenny and Tay. Can't explain it - but the show is getting back on track and fun!!  So hopefully my perceived discourse will dissipate or explode in great ratings.

Has anyone other than me sensed Kenny's distance lately?  It is very obvious!!  She has no involvement in his stand-up shows after being super involved??? Pretty sure he has recently found out he has been hood-winked!!  He could accept gay, absolutely on any level!!  But "Ohme"wrecker may take a while like her parents!!  But the tension is creating great radio!! The "kids" are back.  But at who's expense?
