A book of autobiographical short stories that are HILARIOUS. I read this book on the beach laughing out loud.. my boyfriend just kept looking over at me saying, "what is wrong with you??"

Private series by James Patterson is fabulous if you like detective/crime books. I blew through the 6 or 7 books in a month.

Re: Book Recommendations

The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls

Has anyone read Rude Jude's book, Hyena?  It was so gross but so funny. Very quick read. Took me an afternoon.

Re: Book Recommendations

Loved the Glass Castle. Very haunting. It's an older book, but The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing is a great summer read!

Re: Book Recommendations

So this is a weird request but does anyone have any fiction books (written similar chick lit or similar to devil wears prada style ::don't even think that makes sense:: ) where the main character is either going through a bad marriage or divorce....

The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing is in my all time top 5 books.  The Wonder Spot by the same author (Melissa Bank) is very good as well.  SoftPretzels, these books are very relationship focused and I think might apply to what you are saying.  It is short stories throughout a girl's life and shows the heroines going in and out of relationships.

Currently I am reading Modern Romance by Aziz Ansari.  It's non-fiction, sociological about dating in the modern world.  It's a sociology book by a comedian, and he has such a great voice!

I am a huge fan!  Loved "Master of None"!  My husband and I also saw his stand up, and it was the best I have ever seen.  If you like "Master of None" I highly recommend his book.  His comedic voice definitely comes through in his writing.

Thanks for the recommendation! I didn't think about reading it because I'm married, but you are too...haha. I guess I was thinking too much and thought it could be taken the wrong way by reading a dating book.  I do have single friends I can pass along some info to

It is about dating, but it's not really what I would call a "dating book". It's more about how communication and what we look for in a partner has changed since the modern era of texting, dating apps, etc. and how modern convenience has changed relationships in general.  It's informational, not advice driven.

Because it provides more of an analytical view of how relationships work and what they are based on, I think it can be beneficial for those in a relationship as well single people in order for people to be more self-aware of why they look at the relationship as they do and what other ways of looking at relationships are.

Re: Book Recommendations

This is brilliant thank you for starting this thread. So far this summer I've read...
The luckiest girl alive
Gone girl (finally read it)
The girl on the train
Dark places (another Gillian Flynn book) - very very good
Sharp objects (also Gillian Flynn)
I'm reading 11/22/63 by Steven King right now and it's excellent, although not my normal cup of tea I really like it.
