Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

Today's show: are they eight years old? Why do they have to talk about shitting your pants? There is nothing else to talk about? Nothing? Rally? Disgusting.

I'm so with you. And I've heard those stories a million times-her friend in the cab, dropping her phone in the toilet, Brett holding her hand when she had  food poisoning.

I can't believe Tay didn't know if Don Johnson and Melanie Griffiths were still together.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

I think I read on this board a few months ago that TD or someone in her family started a Go Fund Me page to help pay for her father's medical expenses. I also think that there was a link to the page.
Anyway, I was taken about today when Taylor mentioned that her and TD wen to TD's sister's home in East Hampton this weekend. So wait....TD's sister can afford to have a place in East Hampton and TD can afford to spend all this money on Taylor's birthday and stuff, but they have to start a Go Fund Me page to pay for medical expenses????? That just seems pretty fucked up to me.

I actually think you commenting on that is more fucked up than any of it. We have no idea the amount $$ that was needed to help cover hospital stay, recovery, etc. and how about thank god the man is alive.

Shame on you.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

I'm not going to jump down your throat, but to be fair, you never know what goes on when it comes to medical bills. First, Go Fund Me is often setup by a family friend so that could be the case here. Second, even an expensive birthday is nowhere near enough to make a dent. And I wouldn't really say it's a child's responsibility to pay for their parent's medical bills especially when they are relatively young. My father was chronically ill for 7 years before passing away and there is no way my parents would ever let us give up living our life to pay for his treatment or help with his bills. And lastly, you don't know how much someone's home cost, maybe it was left to the family and passed down. Maybe there was a trust fund. Maybe it's a shack in a crappy part of town worth something. And especially if someone has kids do you expect them to take out a mortgage on their house to pay for their parent? They could. But if friends and family want to help them pay for additional expenses nobody is forcing them. They are choosing to. We live in a "rich" town but are nowhere near rich. That can be a damaging assumption. I don't come to this board to attack those that didn't sign up for the gig. Not saying you did, its just that speculation about what goes on in their life isn't really for our business. We don't know the story.

Of course, thank god that the man is alive. I lost my mother suddenly right in front of me and then immediately had to take care of my father who has dementia and Parkinson's. I am very sensitive to the fact of anyone with ill parents or family members. But I just don't get how you ask strangers to donate money and  then their is a charge for each donation.

Sorry to hear about your father. I can totally relate. You make some very fair points.  But, it sounded like this is not a primary residence for TD's sister. It sounds like a 2nd home. I just don't get how is it ok to just ask strangers for money which then has fees deducted from it. I just don't get it.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

And I have one more take......

I do not ever ever ever want to hear Taylor complain about money ever again when she talks about spending time at SOHO House (of which she is a member) and can effort to take TD to Hamilton. Plus, based on the way Taylor describes the building she lives in, I have no doubt her rent is probably close to $4,000 a month. Taylor is such a dam phony.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

If you don't like it, don't donate. People ask for all kinds of silly things on donation sites, medical and tragedy (fire, accident, etc) are the ones I see no issue with.

The house may be his families, who knows, who cares, not our business.

I won't donate. But I'm entitled to have an opinion. I mean, isn't this a forum to discuss the show and what Taylor talks aobut on the show??? Taylor didn't have to say on the radio that TD's sister has a house in East Hampton. Once its out there its fair game.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

Everyone should be entitled  to their opinion without being shamed.  My issue with GoFundMe is the amount is arbitrary. I  have read about people having money left over after all medical expenses were paid.

Taylor has a victim mentality. She will never have enough of anything to make her happy. I have mixed views on GoFundMe.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

I'll change the subject. What does Matt do for Taylor? He's been her 'manager" for about 18 months. Has he done a single thing to help her make money outside the show? The only 2 things I can think of are the retreat with Carin and the web thing with Stassi.
I think he's more like her personal assistant.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

I really feel the need to weigh in here, as a cancer patient (the one Taylor and Kenny had on the show) my friends desperately wanted to start a gofund me to help with my expenses but i vehimetley told them no. Here's why: yes I was very sick (stage 4 cancer, brain, liver and instestines) and I had NO idea what my bills would be like (insurance is confusing AF!) BUT I knew if I only had so long there were things I wanted to do no matter what (travel to Europe hopefully) and i did not want people questioning where their money went. I had a small savings and my family (aunts uncles etc) could help if things got bad but until they did I didn't want anyone's money. In my eyes having people help pay my bills wasn't fair until it was the last remaining option. And that meant I had zero dollars, my family had all given what they could and I was officially drowning in debt. Luckily it never came to that for me and I don't look down on anyone who needs donations either. My best friend had cervical cancer a year before I did and I started a gofund me for her and threw a fundraiser. But she had no options at that points her parents and family were spent and bills were pilling up so that was the difference for me. There's no shame obviously is taking help but I think the timing is personal for everyone and sometimes they don't ask the person! I only found out because a friend told me they were going to surprise me and i flipped but that's not the case for everyone. Just my two cents. I'm also so torn on the good/evil that gofund me presents.

I'm turning the show off today. This cohost sucks. He couldn't sound more bored and unamused. Get him off the air! I've already heard 3 repeat stories from Taylor since this guy won't talk.

Hi Nikki.....I hope you are healthy now and doing well. I had stopped listening for a while so I don't remember hearing you on the show. Thanks for your take on this topic. Glad I heard your personal perspective of GoFundMe. Take care and be well.

I totally agree with you. I think he drives her to and from work every day. It's pathetic if you ask me. I guess when your family is wealthy you can do whatever you want. Plus, its totally weird that he sits in the studio every day.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

Speaking of making money outside of the show... I was listening to one of the 7 Things recently when T was reporting on Jimmy Kimmel wanting to leave his show at the end of his contract. She went off on him because he has the cushiest job, only working for one hour at night while she is busting her ass, grinding it out in the hardest job there is...in the early (oh so early) morning hours for three whole hours every single day. Poor baby...busting her ass. I get that no job is easy but Taylor has zero perspective. 7:00 am is not early. Not knowing half the shit she talks about half the time and repeating every story she knows the rest of the time is not busting her ass; begging for Instagram followers on your birthday is not 'working hard'; sitting behind Stassi and complaining about it is not the way you get ahead. Time for a reality check, sweet pea.

I heard that part too - when she said something to the effect of "they don't know what it's like to have a real job like the rest of us" my eyes almost rolled out of my head. All I could think about was the conversations we've had on this board about how Taylor complains about work but doesn't know what it is to have a boring 9-5, hour+ commute, and whatever other crap 99% of the workforce deals with on a daily basis. Maybe not financially, but in terms of employment Taylor is a 1%-er and completely out of touch.

Also - if anyone wants to know just how hard Jimmy Kimmel works, listen to the last couple episodes of Adam Carolla's podcast. Adam and a team of writers helped Jimmy with the jokes for the Oscars, and they spent hours and hours over the last month preparing, in addition to his show and whatever else I'm sure he has going on right now. Today Adam talked about what it was like to be behind the scenes at the Oscars and it was really interesting.

Side note - I had no idea that accountants were somehow in charge of the awards at the Oscars. I'm still completely confused as to why, but I'm an accountant and want to know how I can get in on that gig, its way more exciting than what I usually do!

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

I was really bothered by the conversation on Monday about puppy leave --> paternity leave. (I'm behind bc I listen on demand...) I don't know why Taylor had to mention paternity leave here, she has NO EMPATHY at all. For someone who is "so in touch" with her emotions, she really doesn't give a shit about anyone else's feelings or experience. Most companies don't offer any paternity leave anyway so it's a moot point, but it's a lot to deal with, a new baby by yourself, and I think having both parents available for any amount of time can make a huge impact to mom's (and therefore baby's) success, especially if at risk for PPD. Taylor is the most selfish. This really hit a nerve for me. I wish she would have just kept the conversation on puppy leave and how funny/silly the concept is. As soon as she pulls in actual parental leave, I've turned on her. Parental leave in this country is bullshit and can legitimately result in death when babies are left in daycare too young. It's so stressful and she is totally clueless. I was really glad to hear Carly defend new parents but I am HEATED.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

Not trying to be a shit stirrer but... why is puppy leave silly, if maternity/paternity leave is not?  It was only a week (vs. 6-12wks for new parents), and getting pets adjusted to a new environment and trained properly is totally exhausting. I totally agree with the rest of your thoughts, Taylor is a fucking idiot.

Most fathers get ZERO paternity leave. Not even one week. So yes, puppy leave is silly when comparing the two. I, too, am heated. I will be welcoming a sweet baby boy into the world in 10 or so weeks. I will only get SIX weeks paid, with two of those being only 60%. It's bullshit. My husband will be getting TWO days, and those will come from his sick leave bank. Maternity and paternity in this country is fucked.

I don't have a problem with puppy leave since it's the company's perogative - if that's a benefit they want to offer, why not? Plenty of companies offer unusual benefits (I used to work for a company that brought in a yoga instructor once a week). Benefits like this are a good way for companies to set themselves apart in a competitive labor market and attract top talent. That said, I agree that it shouldn't be compared to paternity leave which should be a more standard benefit rather than an unsusal "perk", IMO.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

Im not arguing that maternity/paternity leave in this country isn't shit, it is, and I'm not arguing that "puppy leave" should be mandatory or anything, I am NOT comparing the two. What I'm saying is that if a company offers it, people saying it's silly is just as gross and dismissive as any of the dumb shit that Taylor spews on the reg. I'm happy for your happiness about your baby coming, I personally hate kids and love dogs. Different strokes man, that's all.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

That conversation had me heated as well.  Taylor commented on Kenny's paternity leave and said she couldn't understand why he was out so long.  She said something like "it was really hard to do the show without him."  Are you f'ing kidding me!!!!!  How about how hard it was for Chelsea to have the new baby to care for 24/7.  How hard would it have been for her to do that without Kenny?  She's so uninformed and she has not one ounce of empathy in her.  It's so frustrating to listen to!!
