Listening to old shows and you can constantly hear Steph talking in the background. It's super annoying and distracting!

I haven't listened yet Piopio, but I wondered why she hadn't podcast in a couple weeks, and then I saw the condolences on her instagram page. Her Mom would have been quite young. What happened? I feel so bad for her-her family seems so close, and I loved her Mom on the podcast.

I love Jackie! She's so articulate and funny and researches like a mofo. She also always responds to me on social media, which I adore. 💙

I feel so sad for her about her mom's sudden passing. It sounded like it was an accidental prescription drug OD. Correct me if I'm wrong though. So sad in general, but even more gut wrenching since she's getting married soon. ☹️

Yeah it appeared to be an accidental prescription drug overdose.

Wow, that's crazy. I think there's a trend these days towards treating prescription drugs like Xanax and Colonopin(sp) really casually. People are mixing them with alcohol or sharing them with friends. They can be lethal. My sister also overdosed from prescription drugs in 2007.

Thanks so much GC. She suffered from depression for many years, and used prescription drugs and alcohol to self medicate. She was a pharmacist, so well versed in different medications. My parents insist that it was an accidental od, but she had attempted suicide in the past, so that is what I consider it to have been. I feel a lot of guilt because I had really distanced myself from her because it was very emotionally exhausting to be around her.

I can't even imagine how tough that is, LD. I'm so so sorry.

I went back and listened to the intro on Jackie's latest pod, and I'm now more inclined to think it was a suicide. She talks about mental illness and no warning signs etc. So tragic and sad.

During the pod right before her mom died, her mom called her, and she said something like - ugh, my mom is always calling. So annoying...... Made me sad to hear that in hindsight. Sure she'll regret that too.

Thanks GC. I do agree that Jackei's Mom's death sounded a lot like my sister's story, in that it was mental illness which led to self medicating. I guess whether it was intentional or accidental hardly matters. Jackie really kept it together-she is incredibly strong.

I was wondering the same, whether it was accidental or not. It made me sad when they called her grandma. I'm glad she still has her. The whole industry of prescription medicine, particularly painkillers, needs to be changed, which I think it is. These pills are so highly addicting that when their Dr. cuts them off, they turn to street heroin. A lot of these addicts had surgeries and legitimately are in pain, they were not just drug seeking. It's a very complicated situation for sure. I have heard Taylor make fun of drug addicts, mostly heroin, and thought she obviously has never known one, or had one in her family. It's very sad.

Ths my favorite murder podcast mentioned Last Podcast on the Left. Now I am addicted to that podcast (sadly,it has replaced WUWT on my commute). The serial killer episodes are really good. I can't believe I've replaced the mindless pop culture talk with comedians talking about serial killers, but I am hooked. I haven't listened to WUWT since Kenny's last episode.

I love Jackies podcast too! I was so sad to hear about her mom and it having something to do with pain meds! After my last surgery I was on a lot of meds and pain killers and felt myself getting addicted so I went to the hospital telling them that I felt like I was getting addicting and they gave me more! Ugh! Luckily I have a friend who works in rehab and she helped put me on a schedule to ween myself off but I couldn't believe the hospital gave me more! In fact they gave my liquid Benadryl which makes you instantly high as a kite and gave me a new prescription!

She does kind of make fun of Stassi. Pretends she doesn't remember her name because it's Glossia or Missa or glossy. Kind of weird. Says she has a weird name but she can remember Schena?! It's hour 1 starts about 20 min in

That's terrifying! Thankfully you had a friend who could help, so people don't have that sort of support.

So glad you knew and had awareness that it was becoming a problem before it was too late.

When someone fakes another persons illness. Usually a parent pretending (some research says they actually believe) their kid is sick for attention....Drs, charities, friends, community, etc, but there have also been cases of adult kids doing it to parents/grandparents/aunts & uncles.

Ahhh...so glad you enjoyed it!! I posted it here, FB and another forum im on and nada. I thought maybe it was just me who thought it was so crazy! I've literally spent the last two days at work reading everything about it.

I was listening to Jenny's show on demand from Friday and the next thing up said something about Jenny & Taylor interview. I thought maybe Jenny had interviewed Taylor, but it was the other way around.

Jenny is talking about her women's stand up show and Taylor & Kenny said they had been at Gotham the night after once. Taylor said she was just planning on hosting, but wound up doing a set. Kenny corrected her she had just told a few jokes. Jenny said that was awesome, she can't tell a joke to save herself and is only there in host/introduce. She goes on to say what mad respect she has for comedians, such a hard thing and she would never be able to call herself that.

Verbatim the schpeil Taylor was using talking about she stand up shows to guests. Do you think Taylor intentionally does that, or just grabs sound bites from the people around her and repeats them adnasueum? Like the love is love is love. All of a sudden that's something she has always thought, but has never said before it was on TV.

Do you, Chiquita. That's the host everyone fell in love with, the new personality every other week is not a good fit.

i don't like my favorite murder....i'm trying hard, but they just ramble for so long and throw some random F bombs in...kinda like drunk history but not good, IMO. i want to like it bad!!!

Give it a few episodes..... They are really freaking great once you get used to this style of podcast..... It took me a few episodes....I was used to a well edited, planned out podcast a la Serial....but once I realized this is more of a friends talking about a weird interes (that I too share) it has become one of my fave podcasts to listen to.

I started listening from most recent and I'm working my way back. I'll just say THANK YOUUUUU to everyone here that suggested it because I'm in ❤️❤️❤️
I sometimes find myself fast forwarding to the actual stories. I like them but I just want to get to the story lol!
If you don't like it try a few newer episodes or one that has a story that stands out. Good luck!
