Food on the air

No Taylor...we are NOT just jealous that you get to eat (fill in the blank with the food). You smack your lips and sound like a pig. Maybe you should listen to yourself doing it once in awhile? It's entirely possible to describe great food without eating in listeners' ears. It's disgusting. (For the record, Toof Talk is not "listener-friendly either. Can you please just find another way to pay for your dental visits like the rest of us?)

Re: Food on the air

Also, stop having food guests on that are NYC-only. How does anyone think that's a good idea? Sure, a lot of listeners probably visit NYC once in a while, but I think a "destination guide" kind of thing on her blog would make so much more sense. When I do go to NY, I almost never remember the food guests that were on the show, but if she had it all in one place on her blog I could pull that up and pick a restaurant.

Re: Food on the air

So funny that her co-hosts can manage to taste test food on air and not sound like a heifer, but the professional cannot help but to chomp, snort, smack, and slurp directly into the mic....I'm sooooo effing  jealous I can't sound like that, it's super hot... 🔥🔥🔥

Your description is cracking me up - a snorting heifer is exactly the picture painted by the eating sounds on that show. 😂😂😂

I think Tay is adorable and has a great body but YES - the sounds she makes does not paint a pretty picture (I even work in the cattle industry and happen to think all cows are beautiful ) It's disgusting. So is Toof Talk.

Re: Food on the air

Just to clarify, I'm def not saying she looks like a barnyard animal by any means, just sounds like one lol. And agreed...Toof Talk is the worst!!

Yes, I think that's an important distinction to make- I'm not calling Taylor fat or saying she IS a heifer, and I don't believe Wakeupfan420 is either, just saying that's what it sounds like.

Side question- I'm just curious, do you eat beef? My mom kept chickens for a little while a couple of years ago and now she refuses to eat chicken because she sees them as pets or something like that. (just to clarify because sometimes tone is lost on the interwebs - this is in no way a snarky question, I struggle with loving both living animals and cheeseburgers so I'm always interested to hear how the experiences people have with animals colors their view on eating them)

Re: Food on the air

Not O_P (congrats on the wedding by the way!! Thought I put that in the other thread but don't think it showed), but I don't eat meat. I grew up on a farm and zero issues with it, that's what they were raised for and wouldn't be there if not for the end product. I do have serious issue with industrial farming though. Fair treatment should still be in play even when animals are raised for meat.

Re: Food on the air

I have a family friend who doesn't eat chicken now because he says the farm raised chicken he grew up on taste so much better and poultry now has not flavor.

I'm also probably the only person in human history that does not like the taste of grass fed cattle.

That is a great question! Yes, I eat beef (most meals). I think it's important to realize, as FKFriday wrote, that we raise the animals for a purpose. And we work so hard every day to make sure those animals are happy and healthy to help my family and friends and the world to be happy and healthy in return! Raising them is hard though, because you do develop a sort of relationship, especially when younger and in 4-H and spend one-on-one time with the animals. Farm animals really are sweet - but do have a purpose.

Maybe this will make you smile - I work in marketing... the product we market is... Bull Semen. Yes, I spend all day talking about bulls and their sperm for artificial insemination.  message me if you have questions!! I love to spread the word about how awesome and important (and complicated!) the cattle industry is.

Re: Food on the air

I have not listened in awhile because one reason listening to her eat puts me in a bad mood. Not because I'm jealous believe me cause I can eat at work. I have complained on twitter and the wake up page several times and it does not do any good. I have even complained on here. She needs manners. I don't understand how she hung out with the rich and "fab" eating like a cow.  She has even mentioned on several occasions that her friends have complained.  Ughhh. See bad mood now...

Oh my God, I thought I was the only person who doesn't like grass-fed beef! Good to know there's at least one other person out there... somewhere... like me.

Also, re: eating on air, she's talking to people as she's doing it. Dude, it's not jealousy, it's just appalled by bad manners. I think most people are raised to know that talking with your mouth full and smacking is rude... especially in front of guests! If those are your manners when you're at home/with friends/family that's one thing, but it is completely unprofessional to act like such a slob around your co-workers, let alone when you are hosting people on your radio show. My mom would be mortified if I behaved the way she does (and not only with the gross habits)... and on national radio!!!!

Re: Food on the air

Foodie Finds are almost everyday now. Not sure why. I do love to hear about new restaurants because I am in the NYC area but 1- that's selfish of me because I'm pretty sure the majority of listeners are not here and 2- do we need it daily or even more than once every few weeks? And yes her chomping is a huge turn off (notice how you couldn't even tell that Rob was eating today) but I'm not sure if this has become who she wants to be perceived as. Most of her mannerisms as of late (or descriptions of) are pretty gross and classless. I've said this before but I really like who she came across as back in the old days. She was apparently very unhappy so that part isn't a good trade off. However you can't change a person so maybe this is who she is now. I don't find it very self-deprecating...I can be self-deprecating but it doesn't mean I'm obnoxious. And I definitely don't go around chewing like that ever.

Hmmm maybe she's trying to get us immersed in the moment. You know by smacking her lips it's a sensory thing so you can imagine eating with her? I'm trying to throw out an alternative

I think you are right with this - always thought that she smacked louder for effect. What she doesn't realize is it's gross and does not make me want to try the foods she's smacking on.

Thank you for sharing O_P! That makes me feel a little better about my love of meat. 😬 And you definitely have a unique job!

Re: Food on the air

Wait....
She thinks people complain about her disgusting smacking because we are.... jealous!? Okay- Babette has truly made her more delusional than I thought!

And okay think about how disgusting she sounds, and then imagine how she looks. She's talking with her mouth full, and from how she used to sound on FKF, she must take large bites. So there's an open, gaping hole, filled with half chewed food.... Ralph.

She 100% doesn't listen back on the show, because if she did, she would be embarrassed.

Re: Food on the air

Goodness! It has been months since I have logged in to contribute but had to chime in on this topic. Taylor, if you are reading this, the eating on air is gross. It is not good radio. Katie, as the producer, please reign these segments in!
