I know one of the members recently went on a trip to New Orleans and everyone was so helpful with suggestions so I felt like I'd give it a shot. I started it as a new topic because I feel like since we are all over the country we might have all have some local intel we could contribute when one of us is traveling.
-Like me right now! I have a work trip coming up to Indianapolis and have two full days of downtime. I've been trying to research online different things to do/good restaurants to eat at but nothing is really coming up. It's a long shot but if any members are from Indy or have been and have recommendations I would really appreciate it! I'm going solo and have never been to the area so I would love to check out some cool spots. Thanks in advance!!!!

I live in Indy (well a suburb of Indy)! What kind of activities are you interested in? Shopping, museums, tour/drive on the Brickyard Speedway? Mass Ave. is a fun place to just walk around. Where are you staying? That might help.
I'm 38 years old with a family so don't get out to the hip places often, but I work with some younger, fun people (ha ha!) and can get some ideas from them too. I hope you find it friendly when you visit. When we hosted the Super Bowl a few years ago we got rave reviews on our friendliness .
I think Red is based in Indy too, but not sure she checks this site as often anymore.

Aw thank you so much for getting back to me! Didn't see your response til this am
I am really interested in anything-looking for a great restaurant for dinner one night downtown
(I'm thinking I'll do some shopping in the afternoon and have a solo dinner date) and I love art museums-how is the Indy one? I am from the Northeast so I am certainly looking forward to some friendliness for the weekend-you notice such a difference as soon as you leave here!

Hmmm lots of good restaurants. Downtown I'd try Harry & Izzy's (it and St. Elmo's steakhouse are institutions), Nada (Latin/Mexican), Napolese (upscale pizza), or Cerulean. On Mass Ave. I'd try Mesh, Bakersfield (Mexican), or Bru Burger Bar.
The IMA (Indy Museum of Art) is great, but right downtown there is Indiana State Museum which is also connected to the Eiteljorg - both are great, easy, accessible, and right on the Canal, so it's a pretty area to just meander. NCAA Hall of Champions and the Indy Zoo are right there at White River State Park too.
For shopping, right downtown there is Circle Center Mall - which is just okay now, but in it's "hay-day" was the place to shop. For great shopping I'd say Fashion Mall at Keystone, but it's on the Northside of the City.
I hope you have a great trip and I also hope our weather cooperates for you - so unpredictable
