Re: Mark Epstein

Soft Pretzels my thoughts exactly! There are people I really wish Karma would get and it never does. I'd be thrilled.

Yes, to an extent.  But she certainly enjoyed the fruits of those gains for quite a while too.  Sounds like (from what I gathered in that brief exchange) everyone kind of "wink wink, nod nod" knew what was happening.

Ahhh!! If she didn't have a clue what was happening I can't fault her for enjoying the benefits... there wouldn't be much she could do..:bu if she knew and still benefitted from it then she's just as gross.

Re: Mark Epstein

Even if she knew, what could she do? And what could brett really do if this was a decision his dad or whoever made? I guess he could quit but that would be his decision, not hers.

I think it depends on the person on what they would be willing to do.

IMO It just illustrates the level of a persons moral compass..... it says a lot about a person if they are aware someone was doing something illegal, benefitted from it and then proceeded to spend days judging people for not being "honest" or "authentic."

Re: Mark Epstein

I doubt she new anything, but really what could she do? I'm sure she wanted Brett out of the family business to save their marriage, if he wouldn't budge on that I don't think he would on a crime like this.  Most people see tax evasion type crimes as not really that bad because no one person is actually hurt, you know?

Re: Mark Epstein

Would anyone divorce their husband over a crime their dad commits? Or the company your partner works for? If this was going on while they were married (which, who knows...) what exactly was she supposed to do?

Re: Mark Epstein

If you scroll back in her insta where she brags about her goyards it is a nj license in the wallet. I remember thinking she's bragging and yet so silly that she just admitted to NYC tax evasion  she used to say they were renting to save money, well that's where it would save you. (Here in NYC you pay an additional 4.5% city tax off the top of your pay in addition to nys state and federal taxes). Albeit a much smaller scale but it's all relative. And yeah if she knew she could  have refused to use any dirty money from the business in her life for trips, dinners etc. since we all know she refused to use her paycheck for bills other than her own shopping.

It was definitely going on while they were still married.  They've only been separated about 2/ 2.5 years.  His Dad has already been convicted and sentenced.  The investigation had to have been going on for years prior to that.  Source: am a federal government attorney (although not for the department involved in his case).  I just know how long the federal government takes to investigate and prosecute anything.

Re: Mark Epstein

My original comment wasn't to suggest that T should have or could have done anything about the crime, it was the fact that she's taking glee in the fact that he's been caught when she, either knowingly or unknowingly, was the willing beneficiary of their success.

Re: Mark Epstein

She said today that it didn't come as a shock to her and that she had been living with the realities of it while they were together.

Re: Mark Epstein

If I had as strong feelings as she does toward them I would probably be happy too.

I think it depends on the people (and their moral compass) in the marriage..

This would be a good show surprise me topic of the day....
I asked myself would I leave my husband if I knew he was participating in illegal activity? What illegal activity would be "acceptable" and what is crossing the line?

If I know the fallout could affect myself & my kids quality of life I don't know that I could stay.... doesn't tax evasion = possibility of assets being seized? (I only know what I know from movies so excuse my ignorance)

I know piopio brought up a great point because it's white collar crime they might think it's not a big deal because it didn't directly hurt anyone but that doesn't stop it from being illegal.

After listening to today I don't know that I believe she knew or had full knowledge of what was going on..... if she did she could have used that knowledge for leverage for a bigger cut of spousal support..... at least I would have (I too have a questionable moral compass😜)

Re: Mark Epstein

Sounds like she might have known once he was being investigated but I doubt she knew before or the specifics since she thought the result was remote. I doubt anyone doing something like this fully lays it out for their kids and kids spouses.

This is seriously Effed up!  Even if Taylor knew, what could she do? it's like made for tv movie!

Re: Mark Epstein

This is not a victimless crime.  It effects every member of that family and their financial futures.  Who is capable of running that company in his absence?  It also has a potentially devastating effect on the employees of the company as well as the small business owners buying their supplies and therefore having to answer to their customers.  I'll just let go of the whole ripping off of the American taxpayers.  There are many individuals who are deeply impacted by this, some much more than others.

She knew.  She probably spent wildly thinking that it's now or never with the cash.  I wouldn't leave my husband over it but I would be socking away cash instead of spending it like there's no tomorrow.

~oh that would be so good right now~

Re: Mark Epstein

Brett receives a salary for working, just like every other employee at the company. He is listed as the  owner of a partner company, called Jetline. I really don't think he was aware of anything going on.

Re: Mark Epstein

Do you really think she "spent wildly" knowing the business was in jeopardy? Brett was a stickler about money and it does not seem like she got a whole lot in the divorce especially if they were fighting over poofs and tv's. She may have known but I doubt she understood. And we don't know how/if she was told. Or how she found out about it. I was engaged to a guy whose father was super shady. He wasn't a part of it. In fact, he was a really great guy. I couldn't hold his dads dealings against him.

Re: Mark Epstein

I doubt Brett knew, much less Taylor.  The dad probably kept it secret to try to prevent it getting out.  Taylor spent her money to try to keep up with Brett's sisters and their crowd.
