Memory Lane

So I've been listening to old shows (AKA emotional torture)  and even through all the Taylor Swift music the dynamic between Tay and Kenny is AMAZING...it is just so so funny. I've laughed more in the first two hours of this show from 2014 than I have in months and Taylor is genuinely laughing as well. I miss it so so much. Why can't they do a podcast or something. They are just so funny together and really they were a great duo. I miss the banter back and forth and how Tay would say something and Kenny would make a quick joke without missing a beat. It just sucks that the show is so lame and boring now

plus Kenny was sooooooooooooo  self-deprecating and that is such an inspiring thing to see in a man.  they were the best team. I hope too that they do a podcast

Re: Memory Lane

I don't understand when people say she seems so much happier now. Yes, she was miserable during the divorce but when she was still married she seemed much happier. Her instagram pictures seem happier then too. She has got to feel good to be away from conflict but I'm not sure she's actually soooo much better now. She still seems sad and a little angry to me.

Re: Memory Lane

I totally agree with you. There was a time when she was so happy and so so funny!! she's not funny like that anymore. Way more energetic and upbeat too. It seems like the show now a days is boring and just the same old stuff day after day. Maybe she is happier now but disappointed in the direction Sirius is taking the show and maybe she just doesn't care anymore since kenny left, idk.

Re: Memory Lane

I think she's happier personally but really unhappy with the show. She knows her and Kenny had a great dynamic and she must know the show is suffering without him. And the fact they won't get another cohost has to really piss her off. She worked on this show and building an audience for a decade and I think she has zero say as to what the show is these days.

Re: Memory Lane

And I'm not saying she's knocking it out of the park with being motivated to turn it around. That's on her. But I also know that the less you feel appreciated in a job, the less you want to work hard. Especially if it does not matter to the higher ups if you are busting ass or mailing it in.

Re: Memory Lane

So I was listening to a really old show and Kenny was saying his old company paid him $40 a show...Isn't that what he said Sirius offered for him to do the show remotely. I wonder if he's exaggerating. I just can't believe after 10 ish years that's all the company would offer Kenny.

I think we might be prone to reading too much into her.  whether she was happier then, less happier now.  I'd say divorce isn't a picnic. and to use her words things that made her happy, made brett and things that made B happy made her miserable.  the girl has been through a lot in the last couple of years: divorce, being on her own for the first time ever in her life, new relationship with her girlfriend, long-overdue and much deserved sexual awakening, loss of Kenny on the show, rotating co-hosts and maybe other Sirius-related stuff we don't even know about.  she gets a hall pass from me and I personally don't see the sadness so much.  maybe she's just different.  she still laughs a lot (which I love).  gotta catch the show this week when they talked about Brazilian waxes.  does anyone remember which day that was.  sounds like she had a black co-host and the show was a riot what little I heard during my morning commute

thanks and I agree with you pio,  I was laughing so hard I found myself taking the loooooonger routes to get to work so I could hear as much of the show as possible and that's something we folk in DC never do.

Re: Memory Lane

correction to my post above.  us long-timers know it well but for new listeners, this is how Tay characterized her marriage on more than one occastion:   to use Tay's words, the things that made her happy, made brett uncomfortable, and the things that made Brett happy made her miserable.

Re: Memory Lane

Anybody have the dates to their favorite shows we can listen to?

Re: Memory Lane

I remember my fav show but have no clue of the date. It was a throwback Thursday. Idk it it was "Gloria Estefan" themed or some other theme. But there were a few of her songs played and I was literally crying on the way to work because Kenny was sooo funny!!

Idk how to find it without listening to every episode, maybe even every hour if it wasn't strictly Gloria Estefan.

I'm probably in the minority but I miss tbt a little. It would suck without Kenny and it was getting really old by the end but maybe if it were a shorter segment they could've made it work longer before it started to really suck.
@bhammertime2 it would be fun to know some notably funny episodes.

Re: Memory Lane

@lemondrop718 I know, I guess we can go back through the show's twitter and see who was on! Also, I have the show right after July 4th of 2016 as her coming out. Does anyone know the date of Kenny's last show?

Re: Memory Lane

Oh no! I got rid of my Sirius because it was getting too expensive and I only listened to Taylor sporadically.

Re: Memory Lane

I'd pay a fee for that Twitter link. The Sirius App is terrible.

I tweeted at him that I would contribute. 'Maybe if we all tweet at him and let him know we can pitch in... that might help! I have Sirius also but hate the app.
