On Wednesday night, I had the pleasure of meeting one of the members of this board IN REAL LIFE!!!!!
Yes, that's right! TheThirstIsReal and I exchanged lots of emails after we discovered that she was interviewing for a new job about 5 minutes from where I live! She flew in for the interviews (she can explain if needed) and afterwards we met for a drink and to talk. What was amazing was how easy it was to connect with her after only knowing her virtually...I'm hoping and praying she gets the job so she, and her family will actually move here and we can continue our friendship in person. ❤️
We both vote for a big trip to Savannah as DurstBurp has suggested...let's start planning soon!!

It was so wonderful to meet FKCSTMom - we connected instantly. I have a feeling others on here are just as awesome

Quick update- TheThirstIsReal got her job and she spent 4th of July with my family! She's not out here full-time yet (she was here for 11 days working and her family came out to do some house hunting for part of it). Pretty soon she will be here for good and we will be IRL friends, all thanks to the WUWT board. She is amazing and I'm really excited to have her here for good!

That's so awesome!!
My husband and I just booked a trip to CO in mid-September- flying in to Denver, spending a couple of nights there, then a couple of nights down at Garden of the Gods, then over towards Breckenridge to visit a friend. Any suggestions for things to do?
Edited to add I do enjoy the outdoors, but camping/"serious" hiking/climbing is a no-go for me lol. My husband wants to go white water rafting but I'm a little scared and would rather kayak or something in calm waters.

I think you should DEFINITELY meet up with US!!! There are lots of things to see and do if you are going to Garden of the Gods...most specifically the Air Force Academy, the Olympic Training Center and Pikes Peak. If you can swing heading north, spending an afternoon in Boulder is fun, and even better is going to Estes Park, which is a day trip (or overnight...it's only 1.5 hours from Denver or less than an hour from Boulder). Rocky Mountain National Park is beautiful and Estes is a cute little town. The famous Stanley Hotel is up there (where they filmed "The Shining"), too.
I think you might find you like white-water rafting! I've been quite a few times and I've never been more scared in my life, yet ready to do it again as soon as it was over! I'm pretty sure I dove in the middle of the boat each rapid...not the point exactly! But it sure was fun!!
Let us know when the dates are closer so we can try to make a plan with you if you have time. It would be great to have another friend from here IRL!!

Thanks! I'll try to work some of that into the itinerary. 😊 And I would love to meet up with you guys! My husband wants to play some golf while we're there so I'll need to occupy myself and that would be the perfect time to meet up with you ladies!

I live and work on Long Island. Wondering if there will be any NYC Wake-Up events in the near future. I would consider attending.
