Not trying to WK for the girl, but I think she deserves a little slack...
Fired 10/16 - I'm pretty sure we all agree she didn't get out of bed until at least Thanksgiving.
That leaves Dec to decide what to do next and put a plan together. We all know the girl doesn't know how to plan. We have 11 years of evidence of not planning. With investigating podcasting and her other options (including her (or probably Matt) stumbling upon this D&R combo), took up most of Dec along with how busy everyone is with life and taking time off....I'm thinking having put all this together in a month, is actually pretty good. I agree she should have taken down her website immediately, but this is taylor we're talking about. The girl is technologically challenged as an 80 year old woman. Finding a developer in Dec has to be nearly impossible or cost a fortune. I work in software, we have one deployment in early Dec and then he's out for the rest of the year. He only takes off twice a year, Dec and July.
She did say on her IG story that she wanted to have her website updated, it was just taking longer than she expected. She probably found some compsci major home from college to do it!

Two things:
1. Who is our faithful troll poll maker? We need one regarding the number of subscribers she will have. I absolutely think it will be under 200. I can't imagine that many from the FB BB will sign up... and you know that no one from the random population will stumble upon this out of nowhere and say 'please let me pay $6.95/month for her when there are so many I can listen to for free" (and yes, I get it's not a podcast...it's a live show for 2 hours a day). As many have pointed out, you can get Sirius with many, many channels for the same amount.

2. I saw on the FB group someone had posted her link to what's coming and Taylor actually called herself a 'blogger'. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! She can't be serious.... WTF. I would post the picture of it (I took a screenshot) but I'm tech challenged on this board. Maybe I'll PM it to DB. She's my handy Tech Troll...lol.

Oh...and WELCOME LEGALEAGLE!!! Love having new trolls! (And nope nope nope Cindy...not paying a cent for Taylor's repeat of WUWT. I'm over her.)

fair enough...but regarding D&R, producer Katie works for them/their studio so I'm sure Taylor already knew about it.

While some critiques of hers I see as a bit harsh, I don't see the need to "cut her some slack" for being technically challenged and not updating a website. She has had 10+ years in the industry and it's her choice to be that way. If you akin yourself to being a blogger/having a webpage/doing "side hustles" I'd think you'd make an effort to know how to do basic stuff or had made connections with someone who could by this point.

This isn't software building or deployment, it's updating some information on a website. I wouldn't expect the info for payment or the live feed to be up yet, but the Sirius branding could have been taken off and pictures and content/brand could have been updated.

Content and photo stuff updated???? Whaaaaaaaat? It’s not like she is in a relationship with a professional photographer or anything. And like 2 months is not nearly enough time to change photos on a website.

Please.......a college degree and 11 years in the industry and she is this inept at doing these most basic of tasks. She will garner no sympathy from me. I support a family, you had better believe that I would have had something in motion that very day. And, everyone one of you would be the same way.

The world is not fair, and it damn sure does not stop if tragedy befalls anyone. Bills have to be paid.

Just my two cents, but even the construction page is lazy. You can personalize them. Put a pic of T up with the web address. It looks like something from 1999. Just every damn thing is done halfway. I know I'm picky but these things can be done without a degree in engineering. It's really really really easy. Trust me. Even her show idea. Again with the fast money. That's all it is. And the only reason shes bashing adverts is because she doesn't have any. If this does take off and she gets advertisers, believe me, she'll take them happily. I for one don't like being used, and that's exactly what shes doing. Does anyone think shes going to rise and be a juggernaut on her own with no other "Boss"?

You've touched a bit on what I think...some of the BBs think she's doing this noble thing by "starting her own business" and "not taking the easy way out", when in reality I think this was her ONLY way out. If she had legitimate/lucrative job offers from a network, she would have taken one of them.

I can't see her sticking this out at all. It's so much easier to have a cushy, corporate job with a steady pay check. And, how is she going to keep up the Hey Girl Hey IRL -or whatever it's called- show? Who is going to see that besides former fans of WU? No way she can eek out a living from those two ventures.

I'll check out the free episodes but I just cannot justify subscribing financially. I am curious to hear more but even though it's "just" $7, that's a lot to pay for an unknown product/entity.

I also do not see it being sustainable for financially on her end. Is she going to get another job too? I wonder how many people will actually pay.

Jeeze, I already forgot about "Hey Girl Hey IRL." I fear that will just be one of the many ventures that will go the wayside too.
It's disappointing that this is the direction she is going. It's just not going to reach a large enough audience to keep up momentum and sustain itself.

All truth. She had no other job offers to take. She wants money and doesn't want to give away anything for free and take that leap. Podcast would have been the way to go. Now that is squandered. She's not riding the wave of the future. People pay 7 for Hulu for all this content. What do you get? A two hour show about the same stuff? And she was ready to move onto bigger and better things. She's doing the same radio show. This will be such a mind f too. Like what if only 200 people sign up. Will she automatically give up? And why did TD keep saying you can listen on the podcast app?

I only listed to like 12 minutes of the Instagram live video, then i closed it out and when I went back it started over and I couldn’t figure out how/If you can fast forward. But she didn’t seem super confident she would be getting that free 1-hour recap up and running any time soon? Maybe I mis-heard

Also, it would be a better business move if she has 1 week free, then like it auto enrolls you to keep subscribing monthly, that’s what Hulu and prime do? So you get hooked for free then decide its worth it.

That's a great idea! Have a code or something for a preview. My boss uses that example so much, his cable company gave him the hockey network free for a month. It was only a couple of bucks, and it was years later he realised he was still paying for it lol

I think because if you subscribe and set it up through whatever podcast app you use, the show will download as a podcast each day after the live stream is done.

It was amusing to see the BBs fight with people about whether or not this was a "podcast". Ok, fine, maybe its not a straightforward podcast, but it falls in the general "new/digital media" bucket, and I'm having a hard time coming up with any examples of other media product in that genre that charge like this. The BBs like to point out how we can't compare because "there's nothing like this out there!", well, maybe that's the point. Maybe no one else is doing it like this because its a model that doesn't work. There's a fine line between innovator and idiot.

The "do you expect her to work for free?! she needs to make a living!" excuse is totally lame. How do they explain all the other podcasters that do it for "free"? How do they make a living? Oh right, its because when they started the podcast it was just on the side, they had a job that was paying the bills, the podcast took off, got sponsors and now they can make a living from it. The math isn't hard. Right now Taylor is just one more example of how "entrepreneur" has become the millennial feel-good euphemism for "unemployed".

And FFS with the commercial talk, can they learn how to use the podcast app already? JFC. Its not that hard to hit the fast forward button 3x and skip right through the ads.

I wouldn’t pay $1.00 for a year’s worth of content from her. I refuse to reward and encourage lazy and half assed behavior from anyone. I finally got around to deleting her IG because just seeing her face brought about a massive negative visceral reaction!!
