Ok, who else is dealing with this??? I'm Canadian, we expect cold, but this is insane, like cars won't start today insane! Its supposed to go down to -40.....like that's when Celsius & Fahrenheit meet

oh dear Lord.......
I would die.....it was 22f down in the panhandle of Florida, and I thought it was the end of the world.
Canadians have to be the toughest people..........

I saw that earlier this week it was warmer in Alaska than in Florida!! That's so nuts!

Dude, I'm so sorry- that is miserable! We are finally getting above freezing (3 days in a row in the upper 30's- go us!) and it feels like a heat wave..... hang in there!
Offline
We are hovering around 5 degrees here, with the insane bomb-cyclone wind chill the feels-like temp is -20. Def not ideal, and colder than we typically have in January.
Tomorrow our high is 0, with winds of 40 MPH and a real feel of -35. Icannoteeeeeeeeven

Yeah, that would be my husband usually- he is the guy that wears shorts in the winter, he is always hot. But it's been cold enough for even him to wear pants, and he even wore a coat on one day. So, you know it's bitter ass cold if even he isn't pulling that shit, lol.

We have just had a 30 degree weather swing, yesterday I had my windows open, today it my hands are frozen after walking across the parking lot at work. They are calling for anywhere between 5cm & 50cm of snow this weekend. So done

One of My side Hustles I drive for Lyft/uber on Friday and Saturday nights mostly the bar crowds in the city till about 3:00 AM. But now I have a problem I will be home from my full time job just in time to watch dateline and its about the dirty John podcast. OMG did anyone listen to that? It was crazy and I want to watch it. If I sit down I know I won't get back up and its snowing hard now. Looks like I will pass and drive tomorrow night.

Podcast was so good! How was Dateline?

Wow, Cindy- Lyft and Uber driver- I'm so curious about what that's like. As a woman do you ever get in situations with passengers being creepy with you?

So crazy story! I took a cab the other night and it was a woman (early 30s probably, very pretty) and she had a guy wanted to take her down town where we live, then to another city about 2hrs away. When they got to the first spot, she said you pay my now ($12) or the fair to the next place ($350) up front. Hes like no no, I'm good for it, it'll be a fun ride looking at her chest the whole time. She knew things were shady, so turned her radio on and stuck it under her leg so dispatch could here what was going on. She kept repeating where she was and what he needed so they knew there was an issue. Two other drivers came down, the guy hit one and the other knocked him out. They called the cops and the guy took off. Cops brought him back and said "You still owe her $12....then we're taking you in!" lol

Insane!! Yeah, that is the kind of shit that would happen to me if I tried to be an Uber driver. I'd probably get dudes who are twice my size being skeezy and not paying me or something, and I wouldn't always know how to handle it. I mean, I know basic self defense but when someone is twice your size (I'm just not a very big person, even for a woman) you don't always stand much of a chance. I just don't trust people very much, especially men I don't know (sorry Karma- you are excluded from this though, I know you aren't a creeper!) because I've had too many uncomfortable, borderline scary experiences. I just don't have the balls to be a driver- pun intended.

Lyft and Uber Run different then a cab, you pay with an app over the phone no money is exchanged. I have a dash camera that is on when I drive it records the road and the back seat of my car, I also have a Taser under my steering wheel. I have NEVER has a problem that I could not handle, just drunk boys can be annoying. But I do have a bunch of very funny storys from doing this. I started this crazy venture when I was lobbying for Lyft to come back to our city 4 years ago. I went to Albany with representatives for lyft and spoke on the behalf of our bars/restaurants and other businesses that would befit from having rideshare back in our city after it was taken away. Not to Mention cabs are very expensive and unsafe here. We won!! Rideshare in now back in upstate NY and I have been driving part time now for about 7 months. I really enjoy driving and meeting people most of the passangers are 20 something kids going to the bars on the weekends and they crack me up. it also keeps me in the loop of the hot stops and stuff going on in the city. It helps that my kids are out also and now they have Mom driving them around for free!!! LOL
Its a win for the city and Drunk driving numbers have are falling I love making sure all these kids get around safe.

Do you do many hospital runs? I was reading an article the other day that ambulance companies are seeing a huge drop because Lyft/Uber are cheaper so people are taking those.
That's awesome they're seeing a drop in drunk driving!

Oh yeah, that's right- I pay through the app, I forgot about that for a minute. Funny story- the first Uber driver we had in our town was our mayor, lmao. He is doing it as side hustle so his wife can expand her bakery. He said he likes doing it, but drunk people bitch at him about everything they hate that the city does while he is driving them.

Omg to funny ! Yes I have 3 hospital runs, crazy one was a really drunk lady at 200 pm who claims she fell off a stool lol her son told her to call Uber to go to hospital cause I’m sure she broke her arm. Was sad she looked like she had her shit together till she became a drunk. Oh the stories are endless, the radio station I volunteer for wants me to a show after my Facebook page confessions of a Lyft driver 😂😂😂. But I can’t tell these stories on air hahahaha
