Re: Taylor's New Gig

I can't stand the new-ish snark and condescension that she seems to be dripping with.  If you rewatch the announcement video, she kind of gets mad that people are asking if there will be cohosts and celebrities and she basically says "Aren't I enough for you?"  To me, that's code for, "No there won't be any celebrities because I have neither the network nor the drive to have them come in and because I have not taken advantage of the amazing opportunities that were literally dropped in my lap".  Don't be snarky with US, the listeners!  We just want to be entertained for our hard-earned money.

How about no? Bitch, you weren’t the Angelina Jolie of Sirius, adopting children and speaking at the UN... you bitched about the children and couldn’t figure out the UN if someone opened the Wikipedia page for you. You were just another radio show host, paid to talk for a few hours, who bitched about everything, but mostly your former life as a rich housewife. Your show wasn’t pioneering or transformative. When the show went off the air, a small group of maybe 50 people couldn’t figure out the news, or podcasts, or what to do without their Sirius radio. They may be stroking your ego like truck stop hookers, but that’s not the norm. Most people aren’t entertained for years by the same tired stories about people no longer relevant to your life. We don’t think animal filters on videos are cute, sexy or cool. We aren’t inspired watching you run after and try to jump on whatever political or social bandwagon your team tells you is popular. And we don’t want to hear you bitch about all the weight you’ve gained through bites of whatever nauseating garbage you’ve decided to eat during your broadcasts. You’re looking for wealth in the couch cushions instead of pounding the pavement, and it’s just so unbecoming of someone who considers herself an industry vet. Wish you the best, but for the love of all that is holy stop pretending you were a martyr.

End rant

The most beautiful rant I have ever read.

Oh yeah, I hear that. Bunch of damned Rodan and Fields chicks blowing up my feed with that #girlboss bullshit....I'm like, yeah, you wrangled a bunch of your friends into a pyramid scheme, great job. That's totally how running a business works. So ridiculous. Re: Taylor's New Gig

Soooooo I know I'm not on here a lot and a little late to talk about the actual announcement,  but today while working I turned on the Facebook annoucement that she did.  I' know the Instagram one has been discussed, but didn't catch it.  Here was my take away from Facebook:

- She is ready to get back to work and has been tired of forcing herself to sleep in
- The show was taken from us
- A LOT of meetings with Matt
- This new show will allow her to do the same thing
*Insert random lip smacking at times*
- She continues to talk for quite some time while the screen is pixelated.
- People write that they can't see her, but she keeps going for awhile until TD tells her there's trouble with the video
- She didn't set the price
- This format will give us (both us and her) the show that was taken away from us

That concludes my summation, in case anyone missed it.

LOL!  Wow, build your own FB page!? Ugh, those stick on nail polish things are the worst. It absolutely KIIIILLLLLS me when they try and hook people in by saying that you get to "own your own small business".   Like, do they not understand that there is some big, "bad" CEO sitting at the top of all of these MLM's raking in millions.  You don't own your own "small business". Please.

Re: Taylor's New Gig

So I actually just joined an MLM knowing full well what I’m getting myself into. I do also own my own small business and am a realtor in addition (I like doing multiple things at once). I really love the mission of the product I’m selling and love the product itself. Do I think I’ll make millions? Definitely not. But I do really believe in the product and will happily be part of the mlm pyramid scheme. I think a lot of people know full well what they are getting into. I’m not offended in the least by people bashing MLM’s I just think sometimes you should look at it with an open mind and if you can’t, ban those people from your social media.

Re: Taylor's New Gig

A friend of mine sells scentsy. She started it mainly the cover her own costs of buying it, but has been doing well (mortgage broker, so always has it on display in her office). I think as long as you don’t go in thinking you’ll be a millionaire (Lularoe, women were dropping $20k in product for stock, with no return option for defects and the company has basically disappeared now), and sell something you believe in, all the power to you.

It’s the people who think this will make then millions, non stop posting, selling every time you see them, talk to them get tiring.

But Karma, you’re missing all the BBs 😊

FKF, I totally agree. I think some people go in because they love the product and they’re happy with whatever they make. It seems to me like the more successful ones aren’t required to buy 20,000 of product - and I can see how people get desperate once they’ve made that investment.

Oh yeah, I have friends that "sell" mostly because they like the products and get them for cost, and IF you like them too, they will hook you up. That doesn't bother me, I think that is smart. I'm talking the chicks who really think they are going to be wealthy and they constantly bombard everybody with the sales pitches, day in and day out. I know they have to do it if they have a prayer of making any money but I've learned to absolutely hate some of these women because it's non-stop. It's all they talk about. And they chant these little mantras and hash tags over and over and over again, and I feel like I've lost some friends to a creepy cult. And I know that most of them will not make much money because our area is SATURATED- too many people selling, people toward the bottom don't have a prayer. But they keep throwing their personal money into these, hoping and praying it pays off. I just think it's a cruel business model.

Re: Taylor's New Gig

I've pretty much culled all my MLM friends from Facebook but there's one I just can't quit - it's too entertaining.  She posts pictures of frizzy hair next to beautiful smooth hair.  When people ask her what she's using, she won't say.  She then tells them that she will PM them all the information.  Her friends keep saying, "but what is the product?" and she just will not share the name.  That's a sound business model - I'm selling a secret product that I can't talk about but please buy some.

Kinda like, I'm hosting a radio show but don't know when and not really sure how it all works, but please send me money, now that I think about it.

Romaine of Derek and Romaine posted in the Facebook group explaining why there is a cost.

Here's part of it:
I know many of you have asked why the subscription fee? It’s pretty easy to explain actually. Doing Radio is expensive. We have a lot of costs to provide a live daily streaming show. There are studio costs, producer salaries to pay, and of course the price of the actual streaming services. Podcasts are typically free but Taylor isn’t doing a standard podcast. She is doing a live daily online radio show that then has the functionality to act like a podcast after the fact. Not to mention it is commercial free. So I hope that explains some things.

My mom and SIL wear LLR. At one point my mom was thinking about selling it. I was like absolutely not! And found this reddit page that clearly explains the scam and what you would need to do to make money! But then my SIL’s friend that sells it to her is all like well I quit my job because I do so well selling LLR, which zero percent is true. Thankfully mommy dearest listened to me in the end.

He’s answering the wrong “why”. I have no doubt it’s “expensive” to stream a live radio show everyday. But WHY did Taylor choose this route? Did she ask her loyal listeners what they wanted? Did everyone beg her for 10 live hours per week at any cost? Or would her loyal listeners have preferred a free “standard”  weekly podcast? Time will tell of course, but I think it’s clear this decision was 100% about Taylor. Maximum income, minimal work.

I think Taylor went the faux radio route because she wants real-time caller interaction.  However, even on Sirius the same 5-10 sycophants called in all the time and reiterated their same opinions.  It was stale.  With this much more limited audience it’ll be even more of a cesspool of halfbaked ideas and opinions.  I don’t think she’s thinking about how dry it will become with the same few people calling in all the time.

Also people on Facebook are praising the commercial free aspect, but really who wants to listen to ANYONE talk nonstop for two hours straight, much less repeating the same stories over and over and over.  Commercials are a nice break and natural segue to a new topic.

I think Taylor’s biggest issue is that she doesn’t seem to have much of a life outside of TD, Matt and drinking.  She has no fresh and new stories because she doesn’t do shit to gain any fun experiences, perspective or anything else.  Who wants to listen to someone talk about nothing?

Re: Taylor's New Gig

Does anyone listen to the morning breath?  I know they’re not everyone’s cup of tea, but they’re a good example of a daily podcast that has no commercials but is still free!  I’m not sure how it generates money for them (maybe there are commercials on the YouTube videos) but for Taylor to say that she has to charge for her premium daily content is bs.
