California House of Horrors

This whole thing is just so messed up! I'm glad the kids were found, makes you wonder how many more there are though.

"The Turpins were arrested after their 17-year-old daughter, who had allegedly been planning her escape for two years, climbed through one of the windows of their home early on Sunday and called 911 using a disconnected cell phone she had found, authorities have said.At a news conference on Thursday, authorities alleged that the Turpin children, who range in age from 2 to 29, were allowed to shower no more than once a year and were regularly fed very little.Authorities claimed the kids were restrained by ropes and, later, chains as a form of punishment.Riverside County District Attorney Michael Hestrin said in a news release that malnutrition apparently stunted their growth. One of the kids, 12, has the weight of an average 7-year-old, he said. The 29-year-old female victim weighed just 82 lbs. when she was found. In addition to the torture, abuse and false imprisonment charges against him, David Turpin has also been charged with one count of lewd act on a child under the age of 14 by force, fear or duress. If convicted on all charges, David and Louise Turpin both face up to 94 years to life in prison."

Re: California House of Horrors

It's absolutely horrifying, I can hardly handle watching the coverage of it- I get so angry. Those poor kids. It's insane the adult children didn't even realize they were adults, and could leave. They have been so isolated, so abused, and it's hard to imagine that NO ONE had any idea this was going on. They have rarely seen doctors, some never at all, and have never seen a dentist- with malnutrition that extreme they must have so many physical illnesses to overcome. I don't even know how you begin to repair their lives- I'm just so thankful they are finally out of that hell hole. I'm not usually super pro-punishment, pro-prison, pro-death penalty, etc. but these parents......I want them fucking dead for what they did to those children.

Equally disterbing os the fact that the neighbors said they would see the kids out at like 10PM doing yard work and what not and never though. That’s bizarre? Let’s call the cops?

Re: California House of Horrors

If you see something say something..... we live in a society (US specifically, not sure about other countries) where we see some stuff that our gut instinct tells us is wrong, and we ignore it and just “mind our business.”

20/20 about them tonight. Horrid, I have some nightmare stories of abuse here in my city that happens daily to child and they remain in the home with the parent. In fact I know of an incident where the family Pet was removed because conditions were horrific but the children stayed ! I had a little boy that lived across the street from our restaurant  he would come in all the time and fall asleep at one of the tables he was 6 years old. I used to feed him lunch every day and actually brought him in my car to Goodwill so that I could buy him shoes and clothes.  He would have a walk over with a filthy little pair of flip-flops that were broken flopping around.  He would carry a bottle of medicine and his pocket for his ADHD a full bottle left in his hands!  I knew things were bad for Justin’s living conditions because my landlord also rented the house to them He had been trying to evict them for a couple months and I had seen social service there on several times but they never got directly into the house. So I contacted a friend of mine who works for CPS and I told her the situation there was also a 13-year-old girl living there who was a very strange girl almost like mean and tough emotion less. She told me there was nothing that could be done as long as there was a path to the refrigerator with food milk and in it. He lived with his drunk father and crack head mother. The week before they finally moved out Justin rolled a filthy bean bag chair of to the parking lot in a red wagon and told me that was his bed! A Dirty little beanbag chair was his fucking bed. I feed him made sure he took his little pill and had shoes on. He would hug me all the time just the sweetie little guy. Had a weekend off and when I came back to work they had moved out. Left all there shit in the house including toys and clothes. My landlord was pissed because they trashed the house more then he cared about the way the kids were living.  Well when I walked in it was absolutely horrific. Empty pill bottles thrown all over in tons of empty liquor bottles all over the counters.  I opened up his toybox inside were steak knives thrown in there facing up .  The house was so full of garbage and there was so much squalor there was absolutely no place that kid could’ve been sleeping.  Well when I went upstairs I realize that his older sister had it much worse,  we found holes in the wall where they were videotaping this little girl and there was extra small size lingerie pieces scattered throughout the room . I think the  piece of shit mother  was either prostituting this kid out for drugs are filming her we’re not sure. But that brings me back to her emotionless stares and what a strange little girl she was. Ugh made me sick to my stomach how they were living and the  System completely failed these kids.  We did contact the police and told him what we found but nobody knew where they had moved to. The mother would come and go  so we suspect they both stayed with their father. If it is not OK for a dog to live there it’s not  OK for the children to live there !
Welp that’s one story of many about the hell some many kids Iive in.

That just breaks my heart- my son is 6 years old, I just kept picturing a boy as little as him just on his own, walking himself to a restaurant alone just to be able to eat and sit someplace clean and safe. You are a saint for what you did for that child- he knew he had you to help him and that makes a huge difference for a child in that situation. Wish they had not moved; I worry about who he has now to help him......

Re: California House of Horrors

I always joke that my pets probably have more toys/live better than some children. Your story makes it not so funny. ☹️ Thank you for being an angel to that little boy.
