I liked it but it was pretty poorly executed. I think it has potential though, once she can include clips and (hopefully) make it a true recap of the previous week. It was a little too scattered, but if she can streamline it and incorporate clips, it should be good for her to get new listeners interested in subscribing.

She told Rob Shuter it was going to be an hour pulled from one of the shows already done. So if you've heard it as a subscriber, it's a repeat for you. Nothing new... not a compilation of anything. Just "we'll find an hour of a show this past week and we will 'throw it up' there <her words..I couldn't help but think about vomit> for the new listeners to try us out!"
{The voice inside my head was saying, "And I hope they love repeated in-law stories! It will only take 2 weeks of listening for them to catch on to the patterns!"}

I found it especially interesting that she was adjust going to pick a random hour - at some point recently she was talking about a college Intern  where she was splicing audio and video together. Granted it was a while ago, but between her and TD couldn’t they put a little more effort in and get some of the funniest parts of the week put together?

Also I died when she said she wouldn’t tell the dirty details of why she was fired on the free podcast -guuuuurl it is all over this page!

Sarcastically mocking your “on the fence” audience is not a smart move genius.

Seriously? What did she say about it?

Every time she mentioned being sick or taking the day off she would immediately follow (with Lori in tow) with:

Re: Taste of Tay

I don't think anyone would deny her a sick day or some vacation time, but I think a lot of us remember the times when she was off a lot at Sirius, especially that month Kenny was on paternity leave. But there's no need to be an asshole and complain that the people that are paying specifically for your presence actually want you to be there regularly. In this kind of thing, you have to consider your audience as kind of an employer.

I just keep getting more disappointed in this whole thing. I didn't always like Taylor's show for a few years but I really wanted her new show to be better than it had been before. I wanted to want to listen to her again, but it doesn't sound like anything is better and it also sounds like she's become more mean now that she's on her own.

Re: Taste of Tay

I listened to Taste of Tay and I have to say, I enjoyed listening to her and TD together. They're pretty cute.
And TD brought up how much her listeners don't want to listen to her talk about her ex in laws... which I loved. I feel like it might have said in shade to us, but just the fact that they obviously read this tickled me PINK. (See what I did there? haha)

I was a long time listener for over 10 Years. I haven't subscribed and I will NOT download her podcast even though that is all I listen to. I will not support mediocrity. Or her greed. She's so not talented and a fame wannabe and I won't be a part of it. I'll just wait for recaps here and honestly seeing them doesn't make me want to listen.

Yeah I def wouldn't bother. Taste of Tay is free and you just stream it, not download. But I get it. It kind of kills me to give her ratings, but I think that podcasts only count if people subscribe, which I won't.

Re: Taste of Tay

I listened to her podcast because I am on the fence about subscribing to her show.  I don't pay that for any one piece of streaming entertaining.  I wouldn't pay that for ONE show on netflix so why would I pay for one person?  Anyway, she certainly didn't prove to be worth my money on this podcast.  She should be taking segments of the week from her show and creating a version of the 7 things you need to know from the week.  I don't see how she will draw in new listeners if she doesn't evolve her format.

Re: Taste of Tay

Listening to today's show and her head has swelled over her iTunes ranking (I get it...she equates it to being in the top 10 of comedians)...what I fear is this will enable her laziness. Like, she'll stop working SO hard cause she thinks she's nailed this and is now FAMOUS!

I agree. She has an opportunity here that hopefully won't be wasted. This first episode will be popular because people want to see what the whole thing is about. She needs to work to maintain those listeners long term.

I think we talked about this... the rating is a moment in time. All her listeners downloaded or listened the same day. Isn’t she down to like 75 now?

I was kinda hurt for Emma during that. A little crass to bring that up when you have a legit comedian (with a podcast) hosting with you

Re: Taste of Tay

I don't dispute her current ratings, I just wonder if she and her team have done any research regarding how those rankings are determined. Even if they just looked at the #5 pod, Monday Morning Podcast, its rated 5 stars with 8,600 ratings. Taylor's is also rated 5 stars but only has 362 ratings. Its preposterous to think that hers is #4 because of ratings based on those numbers. The rankings are based on the number of recent subscriptions, so it makes sense that with an existing fan base like hers that she would get a ton of subs right out of the gate. It doesn't reflect the quality of her pod, and she will have to continue to gain new listeners to keep that spot.

This is an interesting article if anyone is interested - https://www.thepodcasthost.com/promotion/itunes-rankings/

Top PodcastsTop Podcasts is another example of a “Top 200” chart (although in the Podcasts app it only displays the top 150).These charts, according to Rob, are all “100% about the total number of new subscribers in the past 7 days, with a weighted average for the last 24, 48, and 72 hours”.In episode 66 of Today in Podcasting, Rob went in to some more detail about this algorithm. Based on some previous experimentation, he’s sure that the algorithm works like this.

Number of new subscribers on day 1 multiplied by 4

Number of new subscribers on day 2 multiplied by 3

Number of new subscribers on day 3 multiplied by 2

Add number of new subscribers on day 4

Add number of new subscribers on day 5

Add number of new subscribers on day 6

Add number of new subscribers on day 7

Divide total number by 13
So, it seems that new subscribers are the key to being featured in these lists.According to Rob (The Feed, 54) “a couple of hundred in one day will get you to the top of most categories”.He also revealed on episode 59 of the Podcasters’ Roundtable that he’d experimented to find out how many new subscribers it would take to get in the overall top 100 chart. The answer? 244 within a 4-hour period.Rob added that he hasn’t seen any evidence to suggest that ratings and reviews play a role in the top 200 lists.

Thanks for posting that! I figured the high ratings were due to the podcast being brand new and her already having an existing audience to sign up right away. It's interesting to see how these things are broken down!

Cindy- I get what you're saying but it is a double-edged sword. I am definitely a 'hate listener' when I listen. Taylor makes it really hard for me to want her to succeed right now. There was a point that I wanted nothing else but to be her BFF, get to go to Cosmo Con, and wear an ugly sweater in the studio. But somewhere along the way, that has shifted.

A prime example was when I heard Rob S. pushing her to say whether or not she would go on Summer House. It took a lot to get it out of her but she came close to saying that even if it ruined her relationship with Taylor, she would do it. Again, she said it in so many words ("I gave up the Patriots for her/Cheered for the Eagles for her; it would be her turn to do something big for me" even though she was clear that she knows Tay doesn't want her to do it.) but she is over the top with the fame seeking. She is not fun or nice about it...she's self-centered.

She also isn't working hard and we see through that. She's just telling herself that and hoping the blind followers believe her (ie. MOST of the FB BBs). We've been saying it for years here and lo and behold, she admitted it last week that she was "bored when she worked at the facility." She said she would get off of work and have the whole afternoon free..." Well, if she's hustling and working SO HARD right now, why does every single thing she brings up (Madonna vs. Tracy Anderson for example) all lead back to one of the same 10 things, to use her words: "that made me think about...."
Fill in the blank with:
1. What would you give up for love?
2. When was the last time someone was mean to you?
3. Have you ever had someone be jealous of you?
4. What was the worst experience you've ever had with your in-laws or parents of your significant others?

Need I go on?

Here's what I had hoped for with the new show-
TTSS 2.0 comes out of the block and each day she talks about something OTHER than what it reminds her of in her own life. If she's going to tell stories, tell us about this year with Taylor (hey, let's play a game, nothing prior to 2017!!) and the rest, let's discuss Hollywood, NYC, stories from celebrity news, ANYTHING... but not the same stuff from the past! New 'this reminds me of'! End that sentence with 'This reminds me of another story I read...." instead of (actual event on show with Rob Shuter) "I'm going to read this email now because I just open them and plug them into the lineup...it will be the first time I'm reading it right now...live. I don't know what it's going to say, but it's long, so it's gotta be good."

Hope that explains at least my viewpoint. Thanks Cindy!! Glad you are here!❤️

Yes, Cindy, you're completely right. Bipolar Troll here. Nice to meet you.
Still not subscribing.
By the way, some of the shows she's above are phenomenal shows that I actually do subscribe to. She will not be there for long. Last Podcast on the Left is a well researched podcast that has 13.4K ratings, Anna Faris Unqualified has 4.29K ratings, Guys We Fucked has 5.97K ratings.... Taste of Tay has one episode and 518 ratings. I think everyone can calm down now.

Re: Taste of Tay

I was just looking at rankings and she’s further down this morning. If she creates new content and pulls in new subscribers then she’s got a chance but the numbers have to dwindle once the initial high passes. Although impressively Serial is still like top 25 years after it released.
