I'm really interested to see if Sirius/XM comes up with a better way to handle the huge increase in on demand music/talk available. My understanding is that they have recently updated the on demand app but I gave up on it a while back. There are so many easy to use apps/programs (Apple Music, Spotify, any of a million podcast apps). I'm sure there will always be some market for live radio but the on demand stuff is only going to become more popular, particularly with younger people. I know we still have a long way to go before it's super common but I just feel like XM has to step up their game with that stuff (for a few reasons, one of which is the time of the live show).

After harassing Sirius about their horrible app I have up as well. But, they finally updated it and it works pretty well. Every so often there is a glitch and it doesn't load correctly - all in all it is 100x better now!

Someone on FB isn't happy lol

Taylor - Your audience is getting SOOO effing sick of the replays!! How do you think you're going to be able to kill it in business when you can't even be bothered to show up to your own show more than 3 days a week?

hahaha I don't totally disagree.... & I actually enjoy the replays but I wish they would dig deeper in the archives so it seems almost like a "new" show and not a show we heard a few weeks ago..

Ok I've been reading all these comments and agree with them all! Do you think it's time to take our thoughts to social media: facebook and twitter? I've posted on FB before and got lamblasted but who cares. If we all express our thoughts in a constructive way showing we care for the show and want it to be the show we all once loved it's worth it.  Maybe the higher ups will read and take notice. I know the mega fans will push back, but if we are respecful they will take our advice and make changes!

I don't think it'll go over well. She and her crew (Mom & Sam) are clearly reading this board and nothing is changing, I doubt pointing it out on FB will be any different. Stars has already buried her in the morning where fewer & fewer people can listen, I don't think she's a priority. They have a replay of a TV show instead of her, that says a lot.

The money shows are DSF & Dr.Laura. I think at this point WUWT is a time fill for mediocre pay.

Interesting! I thought when they moved to 6-9am that that was a bit of a promotion in radio world- the prime rush hour driving time. But you're right in that WU's replay is gone making it virtually impossible for west coasters to listen.

10+ years with a company I wished she had more to show for it. 😔 She was what radio was missing for a very long time...but her complacency and "resting in place" has allowed  Sirius to take her formula (female demo, reality TV, hot topics)  and make it better with DSF and now the Andy Cohen channel. She's treated as filler IMO when she has tenure.
10 years she should have her own channel or branched off to TV shows like today, view etc.

But her complacency

She has said before she used to punch in, do the show, punch out. Not a lot of "going above and beyond" or networking within the Sirius community until just now. Even Michelle said Tay used to float around the halls looking through people with resting bitch face. No wonder they plopped her in the 6-9 slot with no replay.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

Taylor has talked with what I took as pride (now I wonder if it was more conceit) about how she created a show to reach a demo not being reached. The problem is twofold IMO...she either needed to grow up with that loyal audience over the ten year period or she needed to expand to the media used by those still in that 18-29 year old demo. She has done neither.  She wants to act like her 18-22 year old self from 2005 rather than join us (and Kenny) in adulthood but she won't use social media (FB, Twitter, Instagram) to reach her audience. What social media she does use is for self-adoration. I didn't need to see her standing in an outside shower in Puerto Rico!  The blog is an excellent example. She could reach so many but she is clueless of the importance of 2015 social media. I remember the broadcast where Stephanie explained to her what a blog even was.

My commute is 6am-7am east cost time. What else can I listen to that is good?

I'm in the same boat, and listen to CNN or O&A.

103 on XM

Depending when you're listening, Randi Zuckerberg is Saturday morning 7-8 on Stars. I really like her show.

THIS. So much. I'm only 2 years older than Tay, and I honestly feel like 2 decades more mature. I think it's cool to know what's going on in the world. My days of clubbing and drinking til 3am are long gone, like I have to get up at 5 to go to work. I don't have any connection anymore to most of the things she talks about, and when they finally get to an important topic, I'm annoyed because she is so uninformed, yet she has such strong convictions! Anyway, I agree...grow with your dedicated audience or adapt to your newbies (or even better...do both!) 😊

I thought it was weird, next week is Labour Day for us and thought they were the same. Another board I'm on someone said it was a bank holiday today. Maybe State specific though?

Weird! Labor day is next Monday here, too. Could be a state holiday somewhere but nothing big. I live in Florida and we thought we would be getting a hurricane this week but it's gone so we'll just have shitty weather all week with no days off. lol

Yup...I only heard the first 30ish minutes of the show this morning but that is 100% what he said.

Today's show is not on demand yet. I'm getting pretty antsy to hear Kenny! Come on producers, get it uploaded!!

The audio is just so bad on those. But I guess I can suck it up if I'm going to complain.

I listen on my phone and haven't had a problem with it - but I can see where another medium may have some audio issues.

So T watches Wolf of Wallstreet and Silence of the Lambs over & over again, but the news upsets her????
Not buying it.  She just doesn't consider being completely uninformed a problem.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

My husband was listening with me today and got so annoyed when they were talking about LA bidding for the 2024 Olympics. Taylor: "I can't believe they've never hosted before".
...
They've hosted twice.

Agreed! She said she needs something in the backround so it's not quiet . I do the samething, but I put on the news!

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

I can actually empathize with Taylor.  I can't watch the news either, because I actually take on the fear or grief of the people in the stories.  I can't even read Daily Mail because there's always a story about abused/murdered kids.  That shit kills me!  Gives me legit anxiety attacks.  Movies are fiction, so I can see how Tay can be ok with them over watching the news.

In her defense news makes tragedies very real..... Where as movies (even those based on true life events) give this theatrical layer of make believe......

I love watching ID channel but do not care for local news because of the senseless murders going on in my area.... Doesn't make sense but I do it.

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

I still think it's different for someone who has a radio show. If she decides that she doesn't want to know what is happening in the world then it shouldn't be a topic on the show.

9/02/2015 3:02 pm  #239

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

Awwww...come on. There are so many ways to get the news. I think we are making excuses now for no reason. She could read the Skimm (the best way ever...and you only have to click on what you want more in depth info on...or want more background info on and it will give you enough to make you look smart about what is in the daily headlines); go to a yahoo or aol startup page; or even a regular news site web page and only read the headlines and then click on specific things. But to say 'I can't believe LA hasn't had the Olympics before Atlanta"??????? Are you friggin' kidding me??? Now I can see why Michelle and Kenny were mad because Taylor walked in the door and was handed a show without paying her dues...  she reminds them of it everyday!

9/02/2015 3:23 pm  #240

Re: Today's Show! (not actually *today*)

The Olympics Were held in LA when our grandparents were born and then again when Taylor was an infant child. I think it's ok she didn't know they had been held there. Fall on your sword about her not knowing news stories on something a bit more important.
