I really liked her as cohost too!
I had to turn off yesterday's show early yesterday so I missed some of the details... Are Dr. Wider and Taylor just doing the Canyon Ranch thing alone now? When people were complaining about the cost, I thought the reason given was that Dr. Wider was doing this whole women's event along with Logan Levkoff and that's why the venue was so expensive. Did they say whey they decided to change the format?

Yes- and they moved the date to March. It’s only marginally less expensive now (still ~$1,700 for 2 nights). They said they changed it because with Logan, there was only 1 event with Taylor. This way people can spend basically the whole weekend with her.

Thanks! I really like Dr. Wider so I'll try my best to not think this is just another way for Taylor to get a comped/expensed trip at an expensive place.

I feel bad for Wider- she was trying to do something nice for a friend and colleague by inviting Taylor along on something she was invited to do because she's awesome, and of course it turned into the usual shit show. Now she is on the hook to provide a second weekend, got her ass dragged through the mud by crazy fans throwing tantrums, all because she was trying to do someone a solid. Ugh. So dumb. Proof positive that no good deed goes unpunished.

I like Wider a lot too.
My issue when determining Taylor's motivation for these trips is, WHY are they always at super expensive places? Like of all the tropical vacation locales, she picks T&C, one of the most expensive. Then she picks this quasi-rehab, probably GOOP endorsed place, which not only goes against her brand (since when is she about being healthy? and its a dry venue for heavens sake), but is also ridiculously expensive. Why can't she just do something in NYC or Boston? Or even Miami since she likes it there so much?

That's my issue, like the Goddess Girls trip MUST include the Versace mansion! I know she hates cruises, but at least they're affordable for the most part. And I totally agree Canyon Ranch is completely off brand for Taylor. I do think it'll be a nice getaway for the people who want to go, I just question Taylor's motivation when it comes to these events.

I think the whole story was pretty dodgy, something else is up as to changing the weekend.

Or why, since they rescheduled due to listener feedback, did they not move this weekend to some place more affordable? Since it has nothing to do with Wider's speaking engagement that does have to be at Canyon Ranch, I see no reason not to book the new weekend getaway somewhere else that more listeners could afford.... Not to mention a location where alcohol isn't a no no since that's important to Taylor.

I feel she has very little idea who her audience is!

For sure!
I also don't feel like she has any creativity. She could come up with some great places that are more accessible to all the listeners and would be better suited to the experience. But her default is always to go for the beach location or "in" spot. It's all for photo opportunities and instagram tags: i.e., everyone else pushing her "product" for her with very little heavy lifting on her part.

Oy the game playing is getting annoying. First she needed the paid podcast, so that was gonna be the good content, and the freebie would be extra. Now the feee one is gonna be the good content so that the paid people subscribe to that??? Why have the paid one anymore? To listen to wasband stories with a new person every day?? Sounds like she’s doing it all backwards. People will subscribe and be like WTF?!?! It’s like when they show all the good stuff in the movie trailer, then the movie sucks 😕

I believe you just figured it out (not for the first time)...she’s not doing the planning. She’s going along with whatever someone else is saying “let’s do” and as long as she’s not inconvenienced and she’s treated/compensated well, she will go along with it. I’m sure moving it from November had to do both with listeners and with Taylor’s Thanksgiving plans. But probably more with hers.
I am positive a weekend with Taylor wouldn’t be on my bucket list. But I’d love a weekend with Dr. Wider! Just not at a tony wellness place...I’m good somewhere less expensive as well.

Listening to the show with Matt when she cried, I wonder how she would feel if he was discussing how awful her family was? She thinks its so unfair that he took a dig at her, but she's been doing it for years, both against him and his family.
Offline
Putting some pieces together. Maybe not as many people have paid as she thought or likes. Maybe that's why she changing the around the live show and the podcast. And maybe that's why she cried when she hears Brett said nobody is listening.

I freaking love Heather McMahan on today's show & she totally held her own.

It was such a good show, I was doing dishes and it restarted and I listened to about 1/2 of it again lol Looking at her IG, I think she’s the kinda friend Taylor needs.

Ahh, Toof Talk returned this morning! That segment annoys me like chewing in the mic does... I had to turn it off.
I also just wanted to comment that I've really grown to like Rob a lot! He's funny, but he also just seems like such a good guy. I loved the way he talked about his parents, and that he wants them to spend their money and enjoy their lives. It might be easy for a guy with plenty of money to say it doesn't make you happy, but I respect that he said he really likes his life and has turned down good paying jobs because he knows more money won't make him any happier.

UGHGHGH!!! I freaking HATE Toof Talk!! even the BB's were complaining about it. Enough already

Oh lord - toof talk is back? Please no. Who told her that should be a thing?

The BBs don't want to hear about Wubby (I love that its gotten more affectionate then Wasband lol), she's run out of things to talk about.

Did anyone else think Chanel was whining to much on yesterday’s show? Sure it could be the straight white man holding you down...or maybe you’re just not very good.
Offline
I could barely get through the show with all the screeching and cackling, but yes, so much whining. And if I never hear the study about status symbols today vs. in the past, it will be too soon. She is like a dog with a bone.

Gosh I'm glad you guys said something. I rolled my eyes so many times. I work in a major male dominated industry (agriculture) and so you'd think I could relate to what they were saying. But most of it was just that - whining, woe is me, "don't want to work for it" type of statements.

Has anyone listened to today's show? I really liked hearing JB's backstory. I'll be the first to admit I'm not generally a fan of him on the air, but it was really cool to hear how the DNR internship helped him turn his life around and start working in radio.

I did as well, and was heart broken about the HIV. I’m glad his life is on a good track!

That conversation was frustrating, because she gave little to no details about the project, what the job is, what is actually happening that makes her feel discriminated against- but the conversation dominated most of the show. So it's like, well, can't tell you anything about this except that the white man is keeping me down....that's not much of a discussion. I know it happens, but yeah, maybe that is not what is happening? How are we as listeners supposed to really understand, support, or know how to process the majority of the show topic without any information to go on? That's annoying.

I haven't listened yet but now I'm excited to- I really like JB. I know he gets dragged through the mud on the FB page, but I really like when he chimes in, he is an interesting and funny guy.

I agree! I don't think he has a great radio voice (I feel the same about Hannah) but he really does have an interesting story. I wish Taylor would include him and the other people in the studio on the show more often. I used to love hearing about producer Katie's dating and travel adventures.

It was so good to hear Emma back today! They were talking about cheating and Taylor said she thinks emotional cheating is so much more forgivable than physical, while most people seem to think they could get over a quick physical affair more easily. She was pretty fired up about it and it made me wonder if part of her thinks she was emotionally cheating on "wasband" with TD. I still think the timeline on when they became romantically involved is a little fuzzy. I don't think Taylor left Brett for TD, but I do wonder if they became an item sooner than she actually admits.

What did everyone think of Lori’s 40 dinners with friends idea? I thought it was good in theory but wonder how hard it would be to actually do it. Also not sure having dinner with the ex is a good idea.
