Can we talk about makeup?

Who are your fave youtubers? What are your go to products? Why does my makeup never look as good as the girls on the interwebs? What's the latest Laura Lee drama? I want to discuss all of it.

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

I guess I'll go first...I like Jeffree (obvi), and I watch grav3yard girl a lot- she's not strictly a makeup channel but she's really creative and interesting, and not as polished as the others. I'll watch James Charles from time to time because he does give good tips, but he's not very entertaining. I cannot STAND Laura Lee. The way she talks drives me up the wall, and I'm not sure who started doing that pop sound first, her or Alyssa Edwards. And I need someone to tell me what to think about Jaclyn Hill because I'm confused and don't know what to believe.

I feel pretty meh about most of my products right now but one that I really love are the Lano Lips 101 ointment because its the only thing I feel like actually moisturizes my lips.

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

I used to be into the youtube beauty thing but it's gotten so boring lately. I actually really like the drama videos about everyone but I rarely watch the actual people. I still on occasion watch NikkieTutorials, Jeffree Starr and a few other people. I also like to watch a channel called Glam and Gore that does special effects makeup a lot.
I find Jaclyn Hill really boring and, while I have nothing against Morphe, I don't care to watch someone sell products to me all the time. I even find Jaclyn Hill's drama boring. I don't think I've ever really watch Laura Lee, but I didn't like how she blamed where she was from for her racist tweets because I'm from there and it's no excuse anyway.
Oh.. and I do watch Tati because I like her reviews.

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

I know people either love or hate Jaclyn Hill but I enjoy her. I think her story is amazing and her tutorials are awesome. I don't get why there's always a lot of controversy around her, it seems like people nit pick her a lot.  A really good one to follow for skin care in Stephanie Nicole. She has really helped me get my skincare route together. I also like Tiffany Does Makeup, Kathleen Llights, Ms gold girl, Emily Noel, Stephanie Marie, Risa does makeup  and several others. I agree, can't stand Laura Lee. My bank account has definitely  taken a hit since I started watching these beauty videos though!

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

I love Jaclyn Hill. Sometimes I’m a bitter Betty about the amount of money she has, but damn I still
Love her. Jeffree Star is talented and almost has a cult like following... like, it genuinely weirds me out lol. I like some of his make up and his tutorials but his fans are OBSESSED with him and take his word as gold. It’s almost kind of fascinating lol

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

Oh and Laura Lee - homegirl reallllly messed things up. She tweeted degrading things about just about everyone - people of color, people who weren’t skinny, smart, etc... I’m choosing to not say what she said because I hate the words she used. Jeffree also called her out (they used to be friends) and said that she was just using him for his fame and his makeup labs and connections IIRC

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

I’m def not a Jeffree super fan but I do find him entertaining. I usually only watch his videos if it’s a product I’m curious about, but his IG stories are great. He really is a fascinating person in a weird way. And the series he did with Shane was so interesting. Mostly the way I end up at a video is because I searched for something specific.

I recently started following beautydealsbff and beautybudgetofficial on IG and have found some really great deals because of them.

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

Oh I agree - he’s super entertaining and I do follow him! I’m just not a super fan. Good call on those IG pages - def going to have to look into them! I used to follow Manny MUA but he also screwed over Jeffree and was rude to fans and so he’s kind of gotten the axe in the makeup world.

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

Yeah, Manny never did it for me anyway. I’ve only seen a couple of his videos and I’m not sure he actually does makeup, he might just be a tea channel but Rich Lux seems funny.

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

I like Rich Lux when he's doing drama videos. I skip all his unboxings though. He's also got a couple of phrases he says all the time so now I have to stop myself from saying them too.

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

I've been watching makeup videos and tutorials on youtube for YEARS. Like, I remember when Jeffree and all of them first came on board.

My favourite is probably Tati (GlamLifeGuru). Shes around my age, and I think her voice is so soothing. She also makes fun of herself and how dramatic she can get, so that cracks me up.

I also like Emily Noel, Casey Holmes, and Brianna Fox.

There are so many that have sold out or just became so over the top and trashy, I'm kind of over it.

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

What about hair color? Has anybody tried Madison Reed? Any other recommendations. I use L'Oréal right now, but I'm thinking about trying something that lasts longer.

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

Home hair color??? I love Schwarzkopf. I bounce back & forth between the bluey black, and the dark red, its super shiny, the color lasts forever and my hair feels great. Bonus, it always goes on super cheap sale here! I think I have about 4 boxes of each the last sale lol

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

I tried Madison Reed before, but I have so much hair, I need 2-3 bottles of dye to do my big ol' head. So Madison Reed ended up being almost as much as it would cost me for a full colour at my salon. It worked fine, and the colour was nice, but not worth the $$

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

Does anyone know what the big deal about Natasha Denona stuff is? Is it worth the price?

I've never tried it but I know Stephanie Nicole does a lot of reviews of her products.

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

I LOVE makeup. It's my favorite part of my day. My dad and I converted a writing desk I bought for $10 at a thrift shop into the most gorgeous vanity and it's my pride and joy.

That being said, I don't watch any YouTubers. I did probably 7-10 years ago to learn some techniques, but otherwise I just like to experiment with my own stuff and try to create looks that I like. I browse a few subreddits about makeup for recommendations and to hear about upcoming products. I get a lot of weird reactions to this, but I just don't enjoy watching makeup videos that much.

I'm a HUGE make up junkie and I don't think it's worth the price. You can get awesome quality stuff for way cheaper. I know a lot of people are split on Morphe, but I can't say enough good things about it. It is AMAZING quality and so fairly priced.

Good to know. I've been getting into Morphe a lot lately and so far I'm really happy with it!

Re: Can we talk about makeup?

Lately, I've been hooked on Jenna Marbles' old vids – classic stuff. For products, I'm a big fan of anything from The Ordinary. Makeup woes? It's all about those filters and pro lighting setups. No idea what's up with Laura Lee, though.

The Use of Recon Tobacco in CigarettesRecon tobacco is primarily used as a filler for cigarettes, and it is combined with other tobacco leaf to form a very consistent and high-quality cigarette blend . The introduction of recon tobacco is the primary means by which ammonia chemistry and other chemicals are introduced into a cigarette . Recon tobacco is widely used in cigarette blends both in China and abroad, and the Chinese tobacco industry began to develop it in the late 1990s .
