Good day. We are consolidating a mess of phone numbers accumulated over years by different departments. Some are tied to old contracts, some nobody remembers ordering, and a couple are printed on marketing materials we cannot recall. The goal is to move everything onto one platform where I can see all of it in one place, and add a couple of new regional numbers while we are at it. Is that realistic with virtual providers, or am I going to end up with the same sprawl? We are talking about roughly a dozen numbers across four countries, so this is not a huge migration.

It is realistic, and consolidation is one of the better arguments for going virtual, since everything sits in one dashboard instead of five carrier portals. Practical advice: do not try to move the printed numbers first. Start by adding your new regional lines and running them in parallel, then port the legacy ones once you trust the setup. Numbers on marketing material should be last, with forwarding kept alive on the old path for months. We run our regional lines through HotTelecom , alongside the older stuff during the transition. Fair warning, porting timelines depend on the losing carrier and they are rarely in a hurry.
