They talked a little about it before I went into work this morning. Who else watched MAM? Did you agree or disagree with Tay and Kenny? What are your thoughts on Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey?I wish someone from Minnesota would have called in. Or did they after I got out of the car?? I'm absolutely fascinated by this story!

I haven't listened to today's show yet, but I did watch all 10 episodes of MaM. It was riveting.
* Spoiler Alert* The biggest tragedy is that the jury failed both Avery and Dassey in that there was blatant reasonable doubt in both cases. Manitowac County going onto Avery property after they declared it was a conflict of interest and then finding evidence. WTF?!?! Why was this allowed?! This story has consumed me for the past few days, been reading a lot online (mostly Reddit- lol, remember our days on Reddit?). There are numerous theories and one that really seems plausible is that it was a set up by Manitowac County's very own Lenk and Colburn (and others). Not saying they killed her, but she was killed by someone else and they were able to plant evidence on Avery property to make it look like Avery did it to avoid the $36 mil lawsuit from his wrongful conviction case.
Can't wait to hear what T and K said about the show and what you all think too!

It has definitely consumed me and my life as well! WTF is right! How in the world could so many things go wrong??? And HOW could no one else see the obvious errors happening all around them?!?!?
I feel bad for Steve Avery but I almost feel worst for Brendan. He has obvious learning disabilities and limitations. There's just no way he (or Steve) were smart enough to carry out what was claimed.
I've been reading the subreddit as well!!
You may be interested in this too. It's an interview with Strang (one of Avery's Lawyers).

It has made me loose faith in the judicial system, because how many people are in jail innocent. Taylor made a good point about you can be confident you will NEVER kill someone, but their is no way you can say you will never be accused of such a thing.
CNN has "Stories of Death Row" and they are just as crazy, but easier to watch because most have "happy endings" and the guys get proven innocent. Has anyone ever watched the documentary about the guy who was convicted and put to death for the death (by house fire) of his children and wife (i believe) it is crazy. Sirus XM's Pete Dominick or the guest on his show, Aaron Carrol, said it best a few years ago, They don't disagree with the death penalty for some crimes, but they cannot support the death penalty because of the human errors often associated with it.

Yes, PioPio you can NEVER be sure you won't be accused. It's scary!! 😕

I have been absolutely obsessed with this show ever since I finished! So many things are just crazy to me!
*SPOILERS*
The fact that the key only contained Steven's DNA and none of hers, and that the key appeared, clear as day, next to the slippers. Why was it missed at so many of the previous searches?! And speaking of many searches, WHY were able to search the property seven separate times, including an 8 day stretch?
Why was the DNA specialist asked to place her in the trailer and the garage?
Ugh and that blood! No blood in the crack of the garage floor, no blood on the mattress even though her throat was slit... and that damn blood in her car and that they "only tested three of the six spots of blood". Yeah right, Jackie.
And poor Brendan. When they were asking what was done to her head, and first he says they cut her hair, then stabbed her head, and then the detective got so fed up that he just flat out asked who shot her in the head.
Haha sorry for the rant! I don't even know if any of that made sense... I just cannot believe ANY OF IT!
Between Serial, Undisclosed, and this I have started to wonder; why do we trust a jury to decide someone's fate? A group of people with probably no expertise in anything regarding the law or judicial system, yet we trust them to decide if someone belongs in jail for life, or worse, on death row.

BathiesTime I just about broke my neck I was nodding so much while reading your post!!!! I'm like yes, yes, Yes, Yes, YES, YES.... YEEEAAAAAAAAAAAS!!!!! No one at my work has seen it. So glad I can talk with you all about this!!!

Amen BathiesTime! Shouldn't we have a system where people have to meet certain qualifications to be on a jury? A jury of 12 idiots could possibly be deciding someone's fate! And also...why werent there any fingerprints in the Rav4? But there was blood? And hello the vial of blood that was tampered with?!!! My dad is a retired cop and he finished watching the whole thing and he says there is no doubt in his mind this guy was framed.

I'm surprised at the amount of police officers and other law enforcement who have come forward saying it's absolutely possible that he was framed and that these things happen in other cities too. It's sad.

Finally finished! I think it was the ex-boyfriend. Why did he have access to her phone bill password. I can almost...almost see him having the password to retrieve her messages, but not to her account. Where did the missing messages go. Also, didn't they say that she was getting a lot of weird phone calls that she wouldn't pick up. And the ex-boyfriend was friends with her roommate, so he would be able to go in and out of her house. He was in charge of some of the search parities and I think it was him that told the people to go to the junkyard to look. He at least could have put the car there and the key. I still think the police put the blood in the car.

Lots of talk about MAM today! So many cray theories!!!!
I'm intrigued by the suiside idea. Maybe TH did kill herself out by the quarry (sp?).... When the police found her body they burned the body, staged the car and planted the evidence. This would help explain the weird phone call where the cop knew the license plate.
Oh and the German guy?!?! What the hell?!?! That came out of left field. I'll be spending company time researching today! This apology goes to my boss. Sorry! Gotta solve this! Work can wait! LOL!

I am also intrigued by the suicide idea! It actually fits with her brother and boyfriend acting all weird and deleting voicemails. Maybe they knew she was at risk and left her a message trying to talk her out of it. But then the county worked with them to cover that up. Oh the conspiracy theories!!!!

Have you guys listened to the Rebutting a Murderer (if you're in Canada, you have to listen on Youtube, we can't get the app) podcast?
I waiver back and forth. I really think there are just far too many coincidences for Avery to have not been involved. I think some stuff may have been planted to make a more solid case, I find it an incredible stretch that the whole thing was a frame though.
My heart breaks for Brandon and his Mom though. Even if he were involved, he should not be sitting in prison. He was manipulated the whole way along.

The guy who does it (O'Donnell maybe?) is a lawyer and journalist and was in the courtroom for the whole trial. He delves into the evidence that the documentary didn't show and answers some of the questions (the hole in the vial) that are just sort of left hanging. Its just another side of the story, neither to be taken as 100% unbiased.
Darkness Radio interviews him and its a good overview of the full podcast.

Be warned, depending on what you think of animals, the first few minutes of both is absolutely horrible to listen to. I feel he totally deserved that first 18yrs in prison for that alone.

Yikes thanks for the warning.

They made it almost seem like an accident in the documentary, in reality, it was very intentional.

I highly recommend a podcast called Rebutting a Murderer. I see the whole documentary differently now that I've heard it...
