Sirius Subscription

Not sure if there is already a thread about this or if it's in the wrong area so my apologies. I'm just curious how much everyone else is paying for their Sirius subscription? (Hope it's not too personal). I don't have a car, I live in the city and just use the app on my
Phone. I pay $20 a month...am I getting ripped off or is that the cost for just the app?

Just curious!

Re: Sirius Subscription

That brings up a good question. I was looking at my account and we have two cars and one internet subscription and I am almost at $300/year plus I pay $2.99/mos??? I am chatting with them now. Will let you know what I come up with.

Re: Sirius Subscription

One car with online (I don't think the app is included in that) $69 including tax for the year, Canadian.

When I got the renewal this year, it was for over $250. Called to cancel, cause like hell! They kept dropping the price, then I complained that internet was now a separate service, used to be included. So he dropped the price and included that. I asked to pay for 5 years, he says no, need to call again next year lol I doubt I'll ever get a deal like this again though!

Re: Sirius Subscription

They always have deals of $25 for 5 months, but I don't think that includes on demand.  I know you can call them and threaten to quit, and they will add you, but again, don't know about the internet.

Re: Sirius Subscription

I'm paying $18/month for one car.  I have a long commute, so I like having it.  I wish there were shows I could really get into though.  Dirty Pop was my favorite for the drive home, but they took it off.

Re: Sirius Subscription

$140 for car and online. Always call right before your renewal and say your not sure if you are going to renew. They emailed and said they were going to charge me $250 I complained since I paid $170 the year before.

My mom said she did this too and got it down to $89 for the year. Unfortunately/fortunately, my husband has the account set up on annual renewal auto-pay and I forgot to tell him to cancel the auto-pay. Dang. Next year!

That should be per month.

Re: Sirius Subscription

i think I was last billed about 150 for a year for home subscription. I hated having to pay for on-line so I passed on that.  also have a new-ish pioneer xm radio in my car (because my speakers were going bad) but not activated right now (has been activated before).  I carry my receiver with me to docking station I have at work and in my car.  you have to  bully xm down when it's time to renew.  they used to give a free month if u renewed for entire yr and I think they have done away with that.  this is why I hated it when Sirius and xm merged.

and for anyone who has auto-renewed when it gets close to renewal, call your credit card company and tell them you lost that card and you'd like a replacement WITH A DIFFERENT CC NUMBER. any automatic renewals associated with the old card (e.g., xm, AAA) will not automatically transfer to the new card.  hope that helps

I'm always super sweet, tell them how much I love them, its all I listen to, just can't justify $200+ for radio when there is so much free content available.

Re: Sirius Subscription

I call every July, on a day off, with time to spare. I generally have to speak to a rep who doesn't know English. Then I ask to speak to customer retention. 2 years ago I got no satisfaction on the phone and I said I was just going to cancel mid July before I would be billed. I tweeted SiriusXM complaining about the customer service and someone tweeted back in about 2 minutes and asked me for my info. I ended up renewing. I always pay for a year in advance and for my home and car I paid $140. The auto renewal would be $274 for 1 car and the app. No way will I pay that much. I just got a mailer to "come back" for $20 for 7 months. I put it in a basket so I have ammunition when I call in July. I generally end up telling customer retention (very nicely) let's not play games. If I cancel you're going to send me a ridiculous offer, let's just figure this out now. Works each time. I do the same with cable. I am going to cut the cord at the end of may and I'm afraid, but it's so crazy I can live without it.

Re: Sirius Subscription

it's really crazy that it depends on who you get makes all the difference on the deal you get.  I got Sirius in 2009 when i got a new car that had it and each year i would call and work out a deal, it ranged between $86-$120/year.  I now no longer drive (work from home) and couldn't get a good enough deal on internet radio so i listen through the twitter link.  I'm sure when i go back to work in an office i'll renew.  I should of got a lifetime subscription in 2009 when they offered it!

Re: Sirius Subscription

Wow...I am cancelling my auto renew. I am just a sucker for paying $269 for one radio.

Re: Sirius Subscription

Hey (mostly) ladies!

I just switched jobs so now I'm working in NYC instead of driving to work. I want to switch my package to an Internet/app subscription. What's the best deal my fellow trolls are getting on that?

Re: Sirius Subscription

Hey. I pay $60 for 3 months for car and Internet/app service.

Re: Sirius Subscription

Resurrecting this discussion again. I am working with Sirius today to reduce my insanely high subscription cost. Frankly I just want 100-122 for channels. I can stream music for free. I live in the US as well.

What are you guys/gals paying?

Re: Sirius Subscription

It is insanely expensive in my opinion. I may let my subscription run out....I don't want to, but it is so much to pay and I only really listen to WUWT

2/22/2017 12:15 pm  #24

Re: Sirius Subscription

I JUST cancelled my subscription last week and Sirius offered me $120/yr. for car radio and internet to stay.  They were hard pressed not to lose a customer.  I still cancelled my subscription b/c it takes me forever just to get through one WUWT show and they expire before I can even finish listening.  I told them they shouldn't have let Kenny Zimlinghaus go and they were like "who?".

Re: Sirius Subscription

I had this debate with myself about 6 months ago. I really only listened to WUWT so now I just listen to it on the Twitter link and have become obsessed with podcasts. I definitely do not miss it and am happy with the money I've saved!

Re: Sirius Subscription

I knew my lease was up soon, so I never renewed my subscription, and I am currently in the middle of my free trial in my new car. I don't listen to Wake Up anymore, but I have had Sirius for years and I don't even know my local radio stations anymore... I also love listening to Howard interviews on the app on demand. I keep debating renewing it once the trial is over, but I don't think I'm down for paying $258!

Re: Sirius Subscription

I called to cancel and they offered me that $120ish for a year deal (had to pay up front). That's what I was hoping would happen so I'm happy I have all the channels plus listen online

I only ever pay $25 for 6 months..... I won't pay anymore than that.

Are you kidding me right now? Are you in the US? What do you say? Does that include online streaming?

I sparked this conversation back up yesterday because yesterday was THE DAY to renegotiate the Sirius or dump. I am sick of high bills for cable and music so I am consolidating...

GO FIGURE...Sirius had computer issues all day so I couldn't accomplish the goal. I am calling now..

Re: Sirius Subscription

I kept telling them I was cancelling, I wound up with a year for $68 inclu tax (CAD...so about $50US I think?) for car & online. I did that for two years. I didn't reactivate it this year because I just don't use it anymore. If they come at me with a good enough deal may go back, I really miss Jenny McCarthy.
