Good for her! I watched it and thought the day in the life stuff was interesting. I didn’t care for the mommy guilt aspect though. I think we, as a society, need to do better on the whole mommy guilt thing and stop making women feel like crap about their parenting choices or what they are doing out of necessity, like working or staying at home. I guess if the show starts with mommy guilt, then it shows the internal struggle Nicole has about working vs being with her family. I just read Jennifer Fulwiler’s new book and it’s all about how can mother’s say yes to both their passion and their family. It doesn’t have to be one or the other, but that is how our society operates. I mean, it was very apparent the kids are very much loved and they have a great support system. Maybe that is just a way to introduce all of that.

And don’t forget this is TD’s first “real” relationship. I don’t doubt that they are in love. But I hope for TD’s sake they do get help. The kid thing is too big of an issue to not deal with. TD seems so sweet and it sounds like she will be an amazing mother. It’s not fair to her to not be with someone who would be in 100%.

I had listened since 2007 and just canceled last month. I used to listen all day at a desk job...I was one of those who would listen for 4 hours and then listen to the replay. My job has changed so I don’t have the time to listen all day. I have kids now and I can’t listen while they are around, so that cuts off most of my time In the car. There are so many other options for content that I just listen to those instead. She isn’t providing new content. I am well versed in the life and times of Taylor Strecker. I follow here and it doesn’t sound like I have missed anything. I am also annoyed at Taylor for not hustling more and promoting her show on social media and other outlets. It just seems like she doesn’t really care. My husband and I (and most people we know) work so hard to further our careers. It’s mind boggling to me that she has an enormous platform and following and doesn’t do anything with it. So I am done. I am not opposed to subscribing and am willing to pay for her content. I think she is really talented, she has just lost her appeal for me.

Do you think the trip got cleared with Sirius? Was it the trip that got her fired or not promoting it correctly on air that did her in?

This is all just speculation.

Read under the payola/plugola section. I am completely sold that it was the trip that did her in. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets fined too.

After reading this I don't think there's any doubt it was the trip.

And I don't think it was any coincidence how the whole thing was orchestrated - I think the very odd "e-mail for details" instead of discussing them on air (did she ever mention the name of the resort on air? I don't think she did but I can't remember 100%) was her way of thinking she could be sneaky and get around those rules since she didn't plug the specific companies. If she did mention them by name on air, I know she didn't discuss how much she was getting paid/what she was getting for free so that definitely violates the rules.

I bet Kenny is SO glad he wasn't still there for this shit show. Would have been super awkward for her to get fired and not him. But that begs the question - if she had a permanent co-host, I wonder if this still would have happened or if they would have been concerned for their career and squashed it?

I think she did say the name of the resort on-air.

I forgot about the Taylor and Ed video thing! Ha ha did they finish their "season" as promised for that or just do like 2 episodes?

Great Taste- this isn’t about Ed (yet) but since you have a background in psychology... is there some type of syndrome or condition where people actually start to believe someone is their very, very best friend when they’ve only listened to them on the radio for 1-10 years and never really met them IRL? I’m curious if that’s why all of the FB people are acting batshit crazy... they truly believe she is their best friend. (Well, and the way she treats her friends; never calls or texts them; goes out with them; etc. they might as well be one! They are treated the same!)

As for Ed... did anyone hear her describe Ed to Carly last Friday— (or maybe it was earlier...It was before the Wine and Food Festival)? I thought he was happily married?? She told Carly that he was going to be a ‘dirty man’ and say things to her that she would need to just ignore. That’s just Ed. Carly made the comment that it was the Wine and Food Festival, not the Wine and Flirt Festival! Taylor made it sound like Ed was really creepy.

I heard this and it struck me as really strange as well.

I don't think the 7 things have been changed up since Victoria? She used to do an awesome job, so much show they were repeated all day on the hour between other shows. When she left, I don't think either of them wanted to take them over.

I think Kenny would throw in some different stories each hour. They wouldn't all be the same but they would repeat some. I remember thinking Victoria was really broad in her stories. It seemed like she would do stories from different categories - something about pop culture, something about politics, food, money, science, etc.  I don't know if they ever said she did this or this is just something I noticed. Either way, I felt like hers were more well rounded.

Isn't Carin just being a hanger-on just like Taylor did at times to others?

I really have no opinion on Carin. I don't really find her segments particularly inspiring for me, but don't hate her either, but just wanted to point out the similarities between how she treats Taylor and how Taylor treats others.

Haha, yes! They both are! It was just interesting to me to see how the hanging on trickles down! I also never realized that the show was Carin's main source of income, though, like you, I've never really spent of a lot of time thinking about her.

SO true about the 7 things. Looking up stories on the internet is the easiest thing to do. They know they have listeners who listen to the whole show. Why on earth would you be so lazy about something that would make your show interesting and fresh for the entire show? That's not all on Taylor though...that goes back to the producer as well. Katie or the intern could have looked up stories too.

Totally agree! Unfortunately, she met Matt and saw $$$ and Matt met Taylor and fan-girled out. Sorry to say but her greed got the best of her, and I agree she got her own self fired. Surrounding herself by an entourage of "yes men" was never a good idea. All these random-ass side gigs that have nothing to do with Taylor or her "brand" are confusing and weird. (Ferrari event? Survivor aftershow? WHY???) I just can't see what huge amazing things could possibly be on the horizon, if those were her best opportunities after a decade on Sirius. I guess we'll see! 🤷‍♀️

All of this! YES! Survivor after show was SO weird!

Remember how she always used to talk about how much guys loved her butt? Stanley was one, as was Rude Jude. I almost think the shoulder kissing was made up, or exaggerated, or even like a practical joke (like when people stand on one side and tap your other shoulder). She always has a spin for situations in her life that paint everyone else like a creep or a jerk. But can anyone remember why she felt so uncomfortable getting her breakfast way back in the day when she used to get egg white omelettes? I swear I thought it was because she felt uncomfortable with a guy in the cafe who would compliment her.

I think as uncomfortable as she is with anything sex related that she would spin a harmless flirtation into something more. I don't say that to minimize her feelings about it because she was clearly uncomfortable. I just don't think it takes much to make her uncomfortable.

Just have to point out, back when she still did TayTV, she had an episode on how she almost got fired when interviewing Justin Bieber. Spoiler alert, she didn’t almost get fired, she did a shitty interview and pissed off his management and he refused to take a picture with her. Her boss came up and told her that Bieber wasn’t going to take a picture with her and she translated that in her story to almost getting fired. So yes... our girl sometimes stretches the truth to make her stories more grand...

I forgot about TayTV! Add that to the list of failed ventures.

Totally agree with the Matt stuff too. She talked so much more about getting famous once he was in her life. I think the Cosmo days and when she had Kenny and Victoria were the best shows. Cosmo forced to her talk about different topics. As much as she complained about it, I liked hearing about what was in the magazine and callers experiences. And the Cosmo brand name brought is some really big name stars for interviews, which was awesome. I also think Steph helped bring in the big name stars because they talked about how she was good friends with someone in the talent department. Once Taylor lost the Cosmo brand and Steph, she didn't have many A list stars, just C and D listers for interviews.

She hit gold when Kenny became her producer and then her co-host. He is whip smart and so funny. My husband and I would listen to the whole show and cry from laughter. Plus they had great chemistry. And he taught her how to do radio, lol. Kenny deserves a lot of credit for taking the show to a new level. That's when they really should have been pushing to build the brand, but she didn't care. Plus she was dating and getting married and, like someone said above, the show was her hobby. Ugh, thinking of this makes me so mad.

I have been a daily listener of the show since 2007 and reading these boards since the beginning. Although the showed annoyed me lately, I miss it. I was searching for something to listen to this morning and everything is so boring and blah.

I am mad at Taylor and her "team" for wasting this amazing opportunity that fell into her lap and not trying harder to build this show and community into something extraordinary. She could have used the CosmoCon model and kept that alive. She could have had a yearly get together in NYC and I think tons of people would come. But it never seemed to be about the listeners, just about making money.  There are so many other shows and blogs that do it better...I could never figure out why someone on her "team" didn't look to all these other examples and copy them! They got so much constructive feedback (post more on social media, reply to listener questions on FB, work on the blog...) and never took it. It's a shame.

I think it's the trip thing too. However, Sirius personalities hosting trips isn't necessarily a no-no. Lino Rulli (the Catholic Guy on the Catholic Channel) host pilgrimages all over the world for listeners. He just had sign ups for his 26th pilgrimage. And those are only marketed to listeners. In fact, when you sign up, the form asks you to list your favorite segment of the show, as a way to try to weed out people who aren't listeners. He talks a lot about the trips on his Sirius show. He has broadcast from his trips as well.  I believe he sets all this up through an outside company, which is who you end up paying. Not some random gmail account.
He goes all over the world with these trips and they are expensive too. This last one was almost $5k a person. You get flight, lodging, food, drinks, and a tour for a week out of the deal though. He also makes money off of them, as well a free trip, which he has said on the air. However, the way he interacts with his listeners is night and day compared to Taylor. His does not seem like a money grab. It seems like he is genuinely excited to meet listeners and share a once in a lifetime experience with them.

She hasn't said this in a while but I can't stand when she says they are the "construction workers of the entertainment industry." I felt like she never got the "poor you" reaction she was looking for when she said it to guests. And part of her reasoning was that they get up so early. Guess what. Millions of other people get up really, really early to go to work and some even have to get kids out the door, fed, dropped off, then commute and work 8+ hours! Just goes to show how out of touch she is with the rest of the world these days.

I can't believe it...after almost 10 years I think I'm done. I've tried listening on and off since Kenny left and it just doesn't hold my interest anymore. Kenny was so quick and they played off each other so well. I thought the show had been going downhill the past year or so, but I still tuned in or listened on demand. Today I turned it on when I got in the car and I couldn't stand MC talking over Taylor and trying to be in charge of the conversation, so I turned it off. I've been doing that more and more lately. I've actually been listening to Jennifer Fulwiler on demand and am enjoying that. The show (and Taylor) are just so different now. Maybe they will attract new listeners so she can keep an audience and a job. I was one of the people who would listen all day, during the live show and the replay so I feel like I'm losing a friend! Oh well, nothing lasts forever...it was a good run!

Whether you love them or hate them, we've all gotten hooked by Taylor and Kenny at one point! I thought it would be fun to talk about the first WUWT show you remember hearing. What's your first WUWT memory?

For me, it was Feb./March 2007. I had started a new desk job and needed something to listen to. I would try different Sirius stations online, looking for shows to pass the day away. I remember Taylor telling a story about sleep eating Cheetos and I thought it was so funny. (Little did I know I would hear that same story another 50 times over the years.) I also remember her telling a story about if she or her BF paid for dinner with either of their credit cards, the waiter would never know who to give the card back to, because her name could be a male or female name, as well as her BF. Mostly I remember being in awe of her energy and laughing along  with her all day. And that's what has kept me listening for 9 years!

I had to register to comment about this "retreat." I have listened to the show for 9.5 years, since Taylor was on with Jim (anyone remember him?) So I am a pretty loyal listener. But $1000 for champagne and to hang out with Carin and Taylor for a weekend? Unbelievable. I started following the Tone It Up girls a few years ago, after Steph talked about them. They are doing a retreat in Miami this weekend. It's $2400, which is totally outrageous, but at least they are delivering something! For that price participants get their hotel, food, and some cool experiences, like a yacht party. And some nice swag bags. $1000 to sit on the beach and listen to Carin do guided meditation?!? No thanks.
