Show Discussions » Have You Met A Celebrity? » 2/05/2018 2:51 pm

We used to live in Southern California so would run into celebrities from time to time. When I was in elementary we watched Kareem Abdul Jabar, Magic Johnson, and the rest of the Lakers hold an informal practice at our local community college - I got my picture taken with Kareem. My mom worked at a Cat Scan/MRI place and met Steven Spielberg (he was bringing his mom). I sat on Red Skelton's lap (not in a creepy way) when I was 8 at the Palm Spring Airport.

Then we moved in North Carolina and my Dad works in NASCAR so I've met quite a few big name drivers (Earnhardt Sr. & Jr., Jeff Gordon, Rusty Wallace, both Waltrip's, many more) and also some celebrity owners - Jim Kelly, Troy Aikman & Roger Staubauch (sp?), Brad Daugherty. We also had friends that knew Edwin McCain so he met us all at a bar one night and put on an impromptu performance.

When we were moving to Indiana we shared an airport shuttle with Marg Helgenberger - she's gorgeous!

I think there's more, but my memory is horrible.

Halloween is my favorite time of the year!! I hate that all these rules are being implemented all of a sudden!!! No costumes!? No treats!? STOP RUINING EVERYTHING!!!

My 10-year old, 4th grade son is dressing up as a gladiator this year. They can bring costumes to school and change for the last hour of the day. However, no toy sword or shield (I totally get it though) and also no helmet. He's like "okay so I'm basically wearing a dress", lol! He's chill b/c all he wants is candy but it's so much different from when I was in school - a bazillion years ago.

I'd like to try to make it work, so please count me in on the initial planning at least. However, if I get the job I applied for I'll be uprooting my family this year to move across the country (new job, new house, new everything) I'm not sure a trip like this is in the cards for me this year unfortunately...

Hmmm lots of good restaurants. Downtown I'd try Harry & Izzy's (it and St. Elmo's steakhouse are institutions), Nada (Latin/Mexican), Napolese (upscale pizza), or Cerulean. On Mass Ave. I'd try Mesh, Bakersfield (Mexican), or Bru Burger Bar.

The IMA (Indy Museum of Art) is great, but right downtown there is Indiana State Museum which is also connected to the Eiteljorg - both are great, easy, accessible, and right on the Canal, so it's a pretty area to just meander. NCAA Hall of Champions and the Indy Zoo are right there at White River State Park too.

For shopping, right downtown there is Circle Center Mall - which is just okay now, but in it's "hay-day" was the place to shop. For great shopping I'd say Fashion Mall at Keystone, but it's on the Northside of the City.

I hope you have a great trip and I also hope our weather cooperates for you - so unpredictable

Show Discussions » Any Denver folks on this forum? » 4/04/2017 7:14 am

I may have the opportunity to relocate in the near future from Indianapolis to Denver for work. It would be either for three years or if we love it there it could be permanent. Are there any Denver folks on this forum?
My questions are...
(1) Do you enjoy living there/would you recommend to someone to move there?
(2) My job would be in Broomfield, what areas/suburbs would you suggest living in (or not)?
(3) Anything else we should know/consider?
Some facts about me...I am almost 40 and have almost lived a decade of my life in four different states. I grew up in Southern California, then teen/college years in Ohio, grad school/early career in North Carolina, and now the past nine years in Indy. I'm married with a 9 year old son who loves making new friends and is very outgoing. My husband and I have visited Denver twice when we were first married, but it's been about 8 years since our last trip there. My husband is very supportive of my career, however, he does love his job here in Indy so he's not looking forward to trying to find another job he loves - but he's willing since this would be a good next step for my career. Whatta man, whatta man, whatta mighty good man!
Thanks in advance for any advice!

I live in Indy (well a suburb of Indy)! What kind of activities are you interested in? Shopping, museums, tour/drive on the Brickyard Speedway? Mass Ave. is a fun place to just walk around. Where are you staying? That might help.

I'm 38 years old with a family so don't get out to the hip places often, but I work with some younger, fun people (ha ha!) and can get some ideas from them too. I hope you find it friendly when you visit. When we hosted the Super Bowl a few years ago we got rave reviews on our friendliness .

I think Red is based in Indy too, but not sure she checks this site as often anymore.

Speaking of making money outside of the show... I was listening to one of the 7 Things recently when T was reporting on Jimmy Kimmel wanting to leave his show at the end of his contract. She went off on him because he has the cushiest job, only working for one hour at night while she is busting her ass, grinding it out in the hardest job there is...in the early (oh so early) morning hours for three whole hours every single day. Poor baby...busting her ass. I get that no job is easy but Taylor has zero perspective. 7:00 am is not early. Not knowing half the shit she talks about half the time and repeating every story she knows the rest of the time is not busting her ass; begging for Instagram followers on your birthday is not 'working hard'; sitting behind Stassi and complaining about it is not the way you get ahead. Time for a reality check, sweet pea.

I heard that part too - when she said something to the effect of "they don't know what it's like to have a real job like the rest of us" my eyes almost rolled out of my head. All I could think about was the conversations we've had on this board about how Taylor complains about work but doesn't know what it is to have a boring 9-5, hour+ commute, and whatever other crap 99% of the workforce deals with on a daily basis. Maybe not financially, but in terms of employment Taylor is a 1%-er and completely out of touch.

Also - if anyone wants to know just how hard Jimmy Kimmel works, listen to the last couple episodes of Adam Carolla's podcast. Adam and a team of writers helped Jimmy with the jokes for the Oscars, and they spent hours and hours over the last month preparing, in addition to his show and whatever else I'm sure he has going on right now. Today Adam talked about what it was like to be behind the scenes at the Oscars and it was really interesting.

Side note - I had no idea that accountants were somehow in charge of the awards at the Oscars. I'm still completely confuse

I have a crazy job with an unpredictable schedule and haven't been on vacay in 4 years due in part to the impossibility of trying to plan with others. This year I decided to go on a solo trip because it takes out the whole component of working around other people's schedules and allows me to be really last minute. I'm thinking Santa Fe for my first time doing this (I've heard it's a great solo destination for women). I feel like I even posted for suggestions on here at one point...

Haven't been to Santa Fe in many years, but it's gorgeous and I agree it would make for a great solo trip! Happy travels

When I was 4 years old, I tripped backwards and was falling into a brick fireplace at my Grandparents. My Dad grabbed me by the arm to pull me to safety and yanked so hard he pulled my elbow out of place. It was so damn painful - and he cried b/c he felt horrible about it.

My first post!

This is amazing! I haven't listened to the whole show yet, just the clip of her announcing her relationship. I have also been listening for a very long time (2008!) and have never called in, sent a tweet, commented on a board or anything but I was brought to tears by Taylor's announcement. After reading this board for a few weeks, I did think it was a possibility but wasn't convinced. What really tipped me off was her telling the listeners how one of her friends was saying "this is such a great time for you to be in media". She implied that it was about her looks but I had a feeling it was for other reasons... Anyways, so happy for her and it's amazing to see the outpouring of support! I am looking forward to all of the great stories!

Are we the same person? Same as you - listened since 2008 - have heard a lot of ups and downs and am SO HAPPY that it seems like Tay is on a great new path. Can't wait to hear more - dammit I may have to renew my subscription!

I just got off a 20 minute phone call to cancel my subscription. It was coming up for renewal July 1st and I finally decided I could no longer justify it.

I only listen to wuwt and I no longer listen to the whole show on demand like I used to. I no longer look forward and get excited to listen. I am sure I will miss it a little, it does have some redeeming qualities but I can't put up with TAYLOR anymore.

Sirius sure tried to keep me though! To the point of being annoying. I finally had to be like 'look dude I've made up my mind and have stuff to do, so just cancel it please.'

Anyway, just wanted to share with my wake up friends.

I cancelled a few months ago. I really missed it for a couple of weeks, but now I'm a podcast gal and don't miss it at all. Except when there are tidbits they talk about on the show that I see either on social media or a on this site and I don't get the full story. Although I could just get confused easily lol!

They were super clinging when I cancelled too - I bet people are just finding that free content just as good or better.

There's even another comment "yah for you Ed!!!" then they tag Tay .

After seeing this, I went back to some pics of them together esp from the Memphis BBQ thing - they are pretty close. Could just be very close friends though...

Yes, sorry I meat movie. It's not out yet, but I want to say maybe next year? I think it's going to be called The Bringing.

Yep, Elisa Lam - that's the one I was referring to. I did see there was a movie - but I'm gonna be way too chicken to see it I know it. The video was so creepy - esp how she'd lean out the elevator door and quickly turn her head left then right. And when you could only see part of her body/arm while she was outside the elevator but it looked like she was grabbing her head. Ahhhhh!!!

Not to mention how gross it was for the people staying in that hotel when the found her body in those water tanks. Could you imagine having brushed your teeth with that water. Horrible. Sad. Gross. Creepy.

I have to wonder why, if she hates blogging and it's So. Much. Work., why do it? I have literally never heard someone bitch so much about having to watch and talk about a reality show. Btw If you want awesome and hysterical Southern Charm/Housewives recaps and discussion (sans the complaining) you must listen to Casey and Danielle on Bitch Sesh. This segment was so subpar compared to their podcast! The best is that they do the character's accents (and improv the theme song in an earlier episode!), it's brilliant and they are so funny 💕💕

Completely agree, I was belly laughing during the Bitch Sesh/Southern Charm most recent podcast. Especially when they were imitating Landon and it was just a bunch of mumbling. I don't even watch SC, but their podcast makes me want to buy all of the seasons/episodes and binge watch them when my husband and son go on their annual fishing trip - it's when I finally get access to the TV, lol!

She should pay attention to what Stassi's does. Tv show, 2 podcasts a week and very frequent snaps, and that's just what I know of. Even if I don't love her guest or the topic that much she's still more engaging and fresh than Taylor. She puts in work.
Sorry for the rant I just realized this the other day and once someone mentioned it I kinda want off lol
I'm not the best with snapchat but if you hit the button on the bottom right it takes you to your friends stories, if that doesn't work I'm out of ideas lol
I also thought babysitter

I listed to all of Stassi's podcasts but was SO fascinated by the murder house podcast. They mentioned the Hotel Cecil at the end of that one - I did some Google searching - that place sounds terribly creepy.

I know!! I'm so fascinated by all this stuff but I'm also a scaredy cat. And Stassi's enthusiasm really stands out and draws me in. I came across the video of the girl from the Cecil hotel one night a while ago and it freaked me out!! Lol I hope she does that monthly podcast on creepy stuff i would be so into it.

Ahhhh - I watched that video on Friday and was completely freaked out afterwards (and it was 2pm on a sunny day). It will haunt my dreams that's for sure.
